Talking Sourcing and Sustainability

Today, 23rd November, Fashion-Enter is sharing and speaking at two events. First up, this morning our Deputy CEO, Jackie Bertram, has been passing on her 20+ years of industry experience and knowledge in sourcing and supply base strategy. This two-hour Zoom masterclass was packed full of useful information using PowerPoint slides and examples throughout.

Meanwhile, our CEO Jenny Holloway was over at the Sustainable Materials London Conference in central London. Organised by Eurofins | BLC, Jenny was joined by a range of experts from the materials industry to understand the sustainability landscape, risks and new requirements.

FCFTA Welcomes the Society of Dyers and Colourists

On Wednesday 16th November FCFTA Leicester welcomed members of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) to the Academy. The SDC is a unique community for coloration professionals and those interested in colour and promote the study of colour through providing webinars, short courses and publications.

It was an opportunity for Cllr Adam Clarke, Lord Young (Chair of Fashion-Enter), CEO Jenny Holloway and Deputy Jackie Bertram to discuss with the SDC members the changing face of textiles in the UK and skills required to support its future.

Jackie said: “Leicester’s heritage in textiles is well known, but it was fantastic to discuss future opportunities with SDC and opportunities that encompass education, skills and collaboration.”

On-site Learning with our Factory Uncovered Tours

This past week we have had five groups from the Fashion Retail Academy gaining on-site experience on our insightful ‘Factory Uncovered’ tours. The students were from fashion design to business management courses. Feedback from these sessions with Director, Caroline Ash, have been brilliant and included comments such as…

“I’ve learnt more in this 2-hour session about design than I have this year, so thank-you so much.”

“I learnt about the importance of reviewing fabrics before buying and doing your research thoroughly before starting a clothing business. Lovely people.”
