London Repair Week 2023

This month Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) is thrilled to be involved, once again, with London Repair Week. Taking place from 20th – 26th March, London Repair Week encourages the community to gain practical repair skills as well as promote the use of existing repair services.

This year FEL has teamed up with Islington Council to host a series of events. From Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd FEL’s shop, FC Designer Collective, 113 – 115 Fonthill Road, N4, will open its doors for locals to bring in their garments to be repaired, upcycled or redesigned, free of charge, thanks to funding from Islington Council.

From 10:00 – 15:00 there will be support for locals to use the industrial machines based at the shop under the careful guidance of experienced stitching technician Leyla. The event will culminate on Friday 25th March with a unique showcase of the best reclaimed garments.

As Seen on the News

Last Week CEO Jenny Holloway and Fashion Studio Manager Agnes Szepligeti, were interviewed by ITV News on the topic of how leaving the EU has affected the industry. The news item aired on The Late Debate on Thursday 23rd February, tap here to view the footage.

Meanwhile, GBNews UK came to FEL’s FC Designer Collective on Fonthill Road to interview two Ukrainian fashion designers as the war hits its one-year anniversary. Nataliia Horbenko came to the UK from the Ukraine in April 2022 and designs and embroiders clothing and accessories. Since December 2022 the FEL team have been thrilled to be able to support and sell her work at the FC Designer Collective. Nataliia likes to work with wool and linen to create her unique, embroidered pieces and she does this with incredible skill and attention to detail. Tap here to view her interview with GB News UK.

And that’s not all, this Thursday 2nd March the BBC will be filming at FEL at the Pryce Jones Building in Newtown, Wales, where we are actively campaigning to keep Welsh PPE made in Wales! More on this next week.

At the Haringey Factory

At the factory this past week we have had students from the Fashion Retail Academy and Glasgow Clyde University take the Factory Uncovered tour and seminar. Additionally we had students from Park View secondary school in Tottenham in to ask questions and make a film about local businesses that are making an effort to reduce their carbon emissions.

The session was organised by Collage Arts and was a part of the Reduce Your Carbon film project. Fashion-Enter Ltd’s CEO Jenny Holloway explained the garment manufacturing process to the group along with sustainability and new technologies such as Optitex and Kornit Digital to enable a leaner and cleaner process for making clothes.
