Jenny Holloway commented “It was a real pleasure to meet Cllr Bull who has been working within the council for over 25 years.  His knowledge of the area, the businesses and the residents was highly impressive.  He is passionate about regeneration and all the positives that social inclusion can create. He was an absolute hit with the learners in both the Stitching Academy and the Pattern classes.

We welcomed The Summer Fashion School

The Summer Fashion School has visited us this Monday, 29th July to further their knowledge in ethical fashion production.

The Summer Fashion School provides pre-university students with an insider’s view into the current fashion industry, whilst promoting enquiring young minds for the diversity of the fashion future.

Programme Director of The Summer Fashion School Caroline Gration has left a positive comment on our factory tour and workshop.

‘We loved it, your entire team is super and the students were absolutely buzzing on the coach back.’

Our Production Director Caroline Ash has thoroughly enjoyed showing the pupils around the factory and commented:

‘The pupils were a delight and very bright. We would very much like to engage again and can offer courses on many aspects of garment manufacture and design.’

Our apprentices have attended The Pure London Fashion SS2020 show

Pure London is the UK’s leading fashion trade show, connecting the entire fashion supply chain under one roof and provides a gateway between the UK and the world.

Our senior Lecturer Jo Price thought the show had opened students’ horizons to the UK’s fashion industry.

‘it was a great opportunity for the apprentices to attend Pure London this year. We all attended a talk by Unique Style Platform that gave us four trend predictions for Spring/Summer 2020 which were Honest, Limitless, Ritual and Brave.  The trends focused on lifestyle, what’s trending on social media as well as political and environmental influences and all had ideas for styling and detail and their own colour charts. Many of the apprentices has a walk round looking at the collections displayed and attended other talks including colour predictions by Pantone. The information gathered will be used for the Investigate markets, materials and styles unit and I am very much looking forward to seeing the outcomes.’ Jo Price, Senior Lecturer.

Our CEO Jenny Holloway believes it is crucial to give our apprentices an idea of what the ‘real’ fashion market is like. This is what distinguishes us from other fashion apprenticeships.

‘One of the salient areas Ofsted noted was the deep dive we undertake with industry practices and industrial standards

We pride ourselves on continually being up to date in ethical and sustainability with garment manufacturing and it’s therefore important all of our learners know exactly what employers’ expectations are.’ CEO, Jenny Holloway
