In Discussion: FTA Wales

FEL CEO Jenny Holloway is currently in Powys, Wales this week for a series of meetings with NCPT Group of Colleges regarding the opening of a Fashion Technology Academy in Powys.

As with London and Leicester, the Powys FTA would provide courses and apprenticeships in technical skills that are in high demand within the fashion and textiles sector.

Jenny also met up with Iona (both pictured), Level 2 Sewing Machinist Apprentice, to go over the moderation notes from Skills and Education Group, which were extremely complimentary about the standard of Iona’s Level 2 certificate.

More from Wales soon!

Are You Looking For An Apprentice?

If you run a fashion business and are thinking about hiring an apprentice we can help. The FEL team prepares apprentices for junior roles across the fashion and textiles industry including fashion studio assistant, product technology, stitching, pattern cutting, production, sourcing and bespoke tailoring.

An apprenticeship is made up of on-the-job work-based learning 4 days a week with 1 day a week training with the FTA. FEL apprentices train in specific skills relevant to industry professionals utilising a live factory environment, masterclasses and enrichment activities. All FTA tutors and assessors are practicing professionals with many years of industry experience.

More details about fashion and textile apprentices for employers can be found here. If you would like to discuss hiring an apprentice please contact: apprenticeships@fashion-enter.com

And Finally…

The FEL team would like to wish United Repair Centre, Operations Coordinator, Gee Fletcher, the very best as she embarks on her global travels starting in Australia. Gee started out with FEL as an apprentice gaining experience with the Fashion Studio team and on the factory floor.

FEL CEO Jenny said: “I remember Gee coming for an interview at FEL for an ASOS apprenticeship, I thought she was fantastic – perceptive, articulate, great base knowledge on fashion, yet FORTUNATELY for us ASOS didn’t select her. We offered Gee a job immediately and she has been utterly awesome 😎. She’s a wonderful free spirit and has had career breaks a few times but this is the biggie – she’s off to Oz exploring. You’ll leave a big gap but this is you Gee – explore and grow! Happy travels.”

Until next time, have a great week.

From the Team at FashionCapital
