National Apprenticeship Week 2024

Christy JD Sports apprentice

Coming up from 5th – 11th February National Apprenticeship Week promotes and celebrates apprenticeships across a broad range of industry sectors. Flying the flag for JD Sports and FEL Islington Council recently interviewed apprentice Christy for their website and print publication.

When asked: What advice would you give to other young people thinking about doing an apprenticeship?

Christy responded: “I would suggest to anybody who is considering an apprenticeship to make sure the role is suited to them and to grab the opportunity by the horns. Apprenticeships are hard work, they require dedication and a willingness to learn, but if treated correctly can be the first steps taken towards a successful career. I think the benefits are invaluable and the experience you will gain will put you in a good stead for your future.”

New Staff Members

Maria

We are thrilled to welcome Emran and Maria to our United Repair Centre team. Both have excellent stitching skills and will be a great asset to the repair team.

Emran

Maria is a former FTA stitching student and Emran and his brother, Mansor are refugees from Afghanistan. Both came to FEL back in 2022 and we supported them with training and opportunities. However, the government relocated the brothers to Manchester, much to the disappointment of all concerned. Fortunately for FEL Emran has returned to the capital and we were able to provide him with employment and his brother is looking to return soon.
