FEL Revealed as 2024 Drapers Award Finalist

We’re beyond excited to announce that we’re Drapers Awards finalists in the Fashion Supplier of the Year category.

A huge thank-you to Drapers for recognising our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices, this is a big moment for our team and everyone working towards a better fashion industry.

Congratulations to all the incredible suppliers that made the shortlist, winners will be revealed at The Drapers Awards ceremony on Wednesday 13 November at HAC, London.

FEL at LCB Anniversary Events

This week the LCB Depot, a central hub for Leicester’s creative community, is holding a series of events to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The FEL Leicester team and CEO, Jenny Holloway are in attendance providing talks, workshops and networking.

Tomorrow, Thursday 10th October, FEL’s Mingle and Nibble event will be rocking at LCB Depot and is invite only. A huge thank-you to all that promptly replied to the invitation to attend this informal meet-up from 5pm onwards…

Skills Bootcamp at Fashion Hub Leicester

As we announced last week, FEL’s Fashion Hub in Leicester is providing a variety of manufacturing services alongside its educational provision. This week, 7th October, the two combined with a Skills Bootcamp for industry workers wanting to develop their production knowledge. Employers today are looking for workers that can complete a range of tasks and the Skills Bootcamp provides the perfect opportunity to learn additional manufacturing skills.

Join Jenny at Evolution of Finance for Businesswomen

FEL’s CEO, Jenny Holloway is billed as a keynote speaker for an inspirational, female-led business event. Taking place Thursday 17th October, the Evolution of Finance for Businesswomen features 10 inspirational speakers to provide strategies and advice for those aspiring to step into the business world. 

This event promises to be a game-changer for anyone seeking to enhance their financial control and business acumen. The talks will be accompanied by exhibition stands, business prizes, complimentary refreshments and lunch included in the ticket price. Taking place at Bromley Old Town Hall, this transformative event aims to advise, support, connect and innovate female-led business growth and success.

Next Week – ASBCI Autumn Conference

Jenny has also been invited to speak at the ASBCI Autumn Conference. Titled ‘Artificial Intelligence in Fashion’, Jenny will join representatives from ASOS, Insider Trends, The Fashion Guild, Recomme and others, to present their knowledge on how AI is already revolutionising the industry, driving innovation, and creating competitive advantages.

Financial Advice for FCDW Residents and Students

Islington Council have kindly organised financial advice and support with Business Specialists from Barclays. Taking place on Wednesday 30th October, business owners and residents at the FC Designer Workspace, along with students and individuals from Space4, will receive essential financial advice. Ranging from ways to access financing, money confidence, to managing an account.

The Textile Institute Event

On Monday 21st October The Textile Institute London & South East is holding on informative keynote presentation on: Now” Solutions to Reduce Microplastic Pollution from Synthetic Textiles. Taking place at The Mills Fabrica, London from 11:00am – 12:30pm, Andrea Ferris from CiCLO® will discuss microplastic issues and solutions to tackle the problem today. BFEG’s Black History 365 Celebration

Black Female Entrepreneur Greenwich is celebrating Black History Month with a range of engaging events and activities taking place at Woolwich Library, Plumstead Library, Tramshed, and Thames-Side Studios Gallery. Centred on the “Reclaiming Our Narratives” theme, some of the fashion related events include: Ankara Accessories Rosette Workshop, Africa Street Tailor Skills (Obioma), Africa Fashion Shows and a BFEG Art Exhibition – Threads of Heritage from 19 – 27 October at Thames-Side Studios Gallery with free admission. FEL’s popular Factory Uncovered seminars and tours are back for the 2024/25 academic year. Led by FEL Director Caroline Ash, these informative sessions are adapted to reinforce learning on a range of topics from fashion and manufacturing to business and ethics. Last week, a group of Sixth Form students visited from Bolton School, feedback was fantastic and included: “This was a great whistle stop tour of A-level Business concepts applied well to the fashion industry.”
