Coming Soon…Made in Wales – The Fashion Event

We are now heading into Grad season with exhibitions and catwalk shows from fashion graduates across many disciplines. Over in Newtown, Wales, Art & Design students at Newtown College in Powys are in full creation mode in preparation for this summer’s fashion extravaganza.

Thanks to the Kornit Presto digital printer at Fashion-Enter the students have been able to create their own unique fabrics and now, with the support of the Fashion-Enter Wales team, are pattern cutting and stitching together their one-off designs.

The all-day event is an exciting first for Newtown College students and will celebrate both manufacturing and design along with the area’s heritage and emerging talent.

Tianna Green, Art & Design student said: “I’m excited for the fashion show. Things like this usually happen in big cities, so it’s fantastic that such an event is happening in Newtown. I can’t wait to see my designs on the catwalk.”

Made in Wales – The Fashion Event will take place Friday 8th July at Focus Enterprise Hub, 3rd Floor, Pryce Jones Building The Royal Welsh Warehouse, 17 Old Kerry Road, Newtown, Powys, Wales SY16 1BJ.

New To The Team

We are pleased to announce a very new and exciting job role that’s been developed at Fashion-Enter HQ for a Quality Assurance and Fashion Study Manager. Filling this role is the long-established, industry experienced Sonia Watson, she will be starting with us next month.

Company Year End Results

CEO Jenny Holloway comments: Our year end was May 2022 and as we approach year 17 of Fashion-Enter Ltd I just want to say an enormous thank-you to all staff.

In 2021/22 we had major growth in all areas with the opening of Leicester and the Islington affordable Workspace but we also had major issues with a lack of stability in garment production and of course Covid hit the workforce too.

Over the last two months the entire team pulled it out of the bag Everyone gathered together, worked closely with each other and absolutely stood united. We knew we would be down on turnover as we had over £1m on PPE last year to replace but in April and May we opened more new accounts, invested in new technologies (thanks to Kornit and Zund), created new positions and recognised staff for their hard work.

We now embrace the new financial year with real gusto. There will be more changes, more opportunities and we will be recruiting real dynamic staff that can take Fashion-Enter Ltd to the stratosphere!

“We are going for major growth and seizing new opportunities. To this end let me welcome Sonia Watson (Haringey) and Dorin Ilut (Wales). The new chapter begins.”

National Manufacturing Day

National Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for manufacturers to showcase the range of highly skilled staff and jobs they have on offer by throwing open their doors in a UK wide Open House on Thursday 7 July 2022. Fashion-Enter Ltd will be taking part – check back for further details.

Visit to Valvan for Recycled Fibers

Fashion-Enter CEO Jenny Holloway has just returned (7th & 8th June) from an inspiring visit to Valvan Baling Systems in Amsterdam where machinery has been developed for sorting and baling in the used clothing industry. She was accompanied by Debbie Potter, Director, and Richard Carter, Business Development Manager at The Potter Group.

Jenny said: “The trip to Valvan in Amsterdam proved to be enlightening. I had no idea that recycling had dramatically improved in terms of fibre sort. It’s now encouraging to see that there are cameras available that reflect the light of the yarn so that an accurate reading can be taken for six core fibres. Also there is the capability to sort by colour which is obviously very important.

“With everything that is occurring in fashion today it is everybody’s duty to look at recycling and how we can use mixed fibres. To this end we are very grateful to the Welsh Government for allowing us and the Potter Group to explore opportunities that will reduce carbon emissions, upcycle clothes and also review the impact of Welsh wool and using it for mainstream, commercial applications for the retail industry. Watch this space for what happen’s next!”

Meet Dorin

We are delighted to welcome Dorin Ilut as the new Technical Manager for Fashion-Enter Ltd Wales. We have very big plans to expand Wales in our new financial year 2022/23 and with Dorin now supporting Eddie Bebb the sky’s the limit!
