FashionCapital Newsletter
24th January 2018

Dear all,

T-Skill Your Way Up

Our sister company Fashion Enter had the pleasure of meeting the team at Kashket & Partners, the current suppliers to the UK Ministry of Defence for all ceremonial uniform and the vast majority of accouterments, as well as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and most of the livery companies of London. Fashion Enter will be working with Kashket & Partners, based locally in Tottenham, to provide a Level 5 bespoke apprenticeship.

“What can I say except I was totally bowled over by the expertise and high level skills of Kashket. Russell is a phenomenal, eclectic entrepreneur who works tirelessly to perfect skills at many levels. At the visit I met three generations of family members who are just the experts in tailoring. I was literally overwhelmed by the unit and they are situated on our doorstep in Haringey. Sharing the same passion as Russell and Judy for high level bespoke tailoring training lets all acknowledge that the time for tailoring skills is here and now! Together we can all move mountains. Thank you Russell and Judy for your valuable time.” – Jenny Holloway

This won’t be the first Royal connection for Fashion Enter, read all about the time Jenny Holloway escorted her Royal Majesty the Queen around a unique Jubilee fashion display.

“It was an informative and inspirational introduction to TR cutting. I found Claudette’s style of teaching very clear and easy to follow, I really appreciated seeing all of Claudette’s samples. It was an exciting and clear overview of the processes of TR cutting, I learnt how to make a basic ‘origami’ bodice block.” Barley

“I have learnt from the course that TR pattern cutting isn’t as daunting as I thought it would be, but rather very achievable to create. I am definitely interested in joining when the next date for the course is delivered.” Aimee

Production Pattern Making with Maggie Stott

Last Saturday we also welcomed the highly experienced Maggie Stott sharing her expertise on Production Pattern Making.

“I found the lesson really beneficial, a real eye opener to see from the ‘other side’ of the pond! As we mainly do the design and pattern design here we sometimes do not understand the importance of the simplest things throwing out a pattern! (E.g. A rogue notch!) Maggie is so knowledgeable, it’s a real privilege to be able to learn just a little of her skills! I’m really looking forward to week 2.” Laura

The following next Saturday’s will take place on: 20th January, 27th January, 3rd February and 10th February from 10:00 – 16:00. To find out more and book your place please contact: training@fashion-enter.com

Good Luck to Fashion Enter at the EEF Final

Late last year Fashion Enter gained the EEF ‘Developing People’ Award for the South East region. The company will now compete on a national level at the EEF’s Future Manufacturing Awards in London on 25 January 2018.

What’s more important is the fact that garment manufacturing in its own right is being recognised as a skilled industry. That’s important for all UK garment manufacturers.” – Jenny Holloway
