Brexit and British Fashion

FashionCapital Newsletter

Wednesday 19th September 2018
Dear all,

Brexit and British Fashion

Sorry to mention the B word but as the Brexit negotiations enter a crucial stage we have been inundated with media requests to discuss migrant workers and the return of manufacturing to British soil. Yesterday our Factory and CEO Jenny Holloway kicked off the BBC Six O’Clock News discussing the issue of skilled migrant workers, she was later speaking on BBC 5 Live, filmed again for Česká Televize, a broadcaster for the Czech Republic, and featured in the Fashion Edition of ES Magazine.

Jenny Holloway comments: “The entire team is delighted that the values that we hold so dear regarding honesty, trust, integrity, teamwork and passion are being recognised by press. We are who we are! The entire team work genuinely for the better good and whilst I may be called upon as a spokesperson each and everyone of our diverse team are equal as one.”

LFW Reception at Downing Street

Prime Minister Theresa May hosted a Downing Street reception yesterday, 18th September, to celebrate the achievements of the fashion industry. The Prime Minister said:

“British fashion is a serious business. The industry as a whole contributes £32 billion to our economy, employs over 890,000 people, and totals billions of pounds worth of exports. Our designers sit at the helm of global brands and we lead the world in design and digital innovation with names such as Net-a-Porter, ASOS and Farfetch all launching in the UK.

“I want to see us continue this success as we build a new future for a global Britain where our fashion industry can thrive.”
