Life is full of opportunities…whether they are grasped is down to you. This week we can share an amazing opportunity for those coming to the end of their design course. The Society for British & International Design (SBID) has teamed up with Be Open, to create a new national competition for final year creative students and graduates across Interior Design, Decoration, Fashion and Art & Design.  With the chance to win £30,000 this could provide the perfect start-up opportunity for your business – click here for more details.

Needed: Skilled Textiles Workers

The UK is not only at the forefront of innovative textile design it provides employment to 880,000 people across the sector and accounts for £62 Billion (6%) to the UK economy. Yet we do not think learning about textiles in school is purposeful enough to warrant time on the curriculum! We are surrounded by textiles technology, and it is vital to the UK economy and industry that textiles education is made freely available to all pupils in the UK to enable a growing industry to thrive with a skilled workforce.

Last year we saw the Government remove the individualised GCSE in Textiles, instead combining all of the technologies into a generalised technology GCSE. Please sign this petition if you value textiles in education
