Graduate Celebration

Over at The Truman Brewery in east London Graduate Fashion Week is well underway and yesterday, Leah and Jasmine attended the busy schedule of shows and talks, alongside the GFW exhibition.

Leah comments: “Yesterday at Graduate Fashion Week, Bath Spa students showcased exceptional talent in design and garment creation. The atmosphere was electric, capturing the essence of fashion’s future unfolding in front of our eyes.
“It was also refreshing to see the industry’s hottest issues, such as sustainability and ethics, addressed in a way that resonated with small, independent designers.
“There’s more to come, especially tomorrow, Thursday 13th June, with the ‘Best Of’ show. This event will feature the Graduate Fashion Week X Ellesse finalists’ designs that have been produced by the Fashion Studio team right here in our Factory. And Finally…

Last Thursday marked the final showcase of the Fashion Technology Academy’s first under-18 Level 3 course at City & Islington College. Over the past year, students honed their sewing and designing skills, attending classes twice a week at the FC Designer Workspace.

In the final two months, they worked tirelessly to complete their final garments, demonstrating remarkable precision for their level. The results were impressive, with all students achieving a high standard of artistic and technical skill. Two students stood out in particular: one, influenced by the underground grunge scene, crafted a menacing masterpiece using 100% recycled materials found in bins or on the street. Another created a striking dress overlay using themes of red and white to replicate the human skeletal structure, vividly portraying the intricacies of the human body. Well done Level 3’s! Until next time, have a great week.
