Why Learn Tailoring at the Fashion Technology Academy?

Because our recent external assessment from the Skills and Education Group (SEG) states that FEL’s Fashion Technology Academy works to a very high standard within a professional premises.

The educational division of FEL – the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA), recently underwent a Skills and Education Group (SEG) Awards visit and assessment to review its Level 3 Tailoring courses.

FTA tailoring courses are taught by Francesco Vuoto, a highly skilled tailor that works on Savile Row and was trained in Milan.

The external moderator thoroughly reviewed the learners workbooks / coursework, the FTA’s facilities and learner feedback and concluded that:

‘Fashion-Enter expects a very high standard of work within this Level 3 qualification. The IM is clear that all work reflects the status of the company and all reports reflect this rigour.

A variety of assessment methods were included as well as learner practical work and this detail included witness testimonies.’

Core strengths were listed as:

‘Exemplar Internal Moderation, dedicated and experienced professional tailor who is delivering and assessing the course. A variety of assessment methods are used. Practical evidence is well made and clearly labelled. Detailed written feedback to all learners. Professional premises for delivery of the course.’

This is excellent news for the FTA and its Tailoring provision. When learners complete a course with the FTA the team always provide an exit survey and those from the Tailoring course comment that ‘the facilities are amazing and that Francesco is a fantastic teacher,’ which cements the positive review from the assessor.

This means a lot to the FTA team who are keen to ensure learners get high quality tuition and are ready for their next step into further education, an apprenticeship, or career in the industry.
