In fashion industry news this week…Retail giant Topshop is to close all of its US stores, Marc Jacobs launches a new affordable clothing label and H&M unveils its latest designer collaboration (November cannot come soon enough!)
Topshop Closes All US Stores
American’s will soon no longer have the luxury to shop in Topshop stores as it has been announced this week that the UK shopping giant will shut all of its US Topshop and Topman locations.
This adds to the 200 stores in the UK which Arcadia Group (its parent company) has had to close over the duration of the past three years. This movement is pushed by Sir Philip Green’s empire in the attempt to avert a “breakup” and prevent entering an impending administration.
Marc Jacobs Introduces New Affordable Label ‘The Marc Jacobs’
Four years after the termination of Marc by Marc Jacobs, the designer has announced his latest exciting venture – he is launching ‘The Marc Jacobs’ – a more affordable version of his original fashion brand.
Instilling individuality with reference to person styling, the fresh, covetable collection is entitled after his Instagram account @themarcjacobs, and will feature ready-to-wear garments as well as shoes, bags and an array of accessories. Pieces are said to be inspired by the designer’s extensive archive and will additionally feature collaborations with long-time friends of Jacob’s. Collection available here online.
H&M Announces New Designer Collaboration with Giambattista Valli
Each year, H&M always excites us with their amazing top designer collaborations and this year proves to be another style extravaganza, with the recent announcement that Giambattista Valli is next in line.
The collaboration was announced at last week’s amfAR gala in Cannes, where the likes of Chiara Ferragani, Kendall Jenner, Ross Lynch, Chris Lee, and H.E.R attended the event fashioned in must-have looks from the new collection that promises to be gorgeous, dramatic and fiercely feminine. H&M x Giambattista Valli will drop early on May 25th featuring nine looks in selected stores and online. The whole collection will launch on November 7th.
