Talking Fashion and Business at Newtown College: What a Buzz!

14-05-2025
Fashion-Enter Ltd’s CEO, Jenny Holloway, spent two days (24th and 25th June) in Newtown College, Wales. Steeped in fashion manufacturing and mail order history, Jenny was on hand to provide her expertise and advice to students and small business owners.

On Monday 24th, Jenny took part in two half-day workshops alongside; Big Ideas Wales and Antur Cymru, to encourage and inspire Newtown College students on their next steps and how to become small business ready.
Jenny said: “The first day was all about reviewing being an entrepreneur such as:
- Have I got the right, outlook and personality to be an entrepreneur?
- Is there a work / life balance?
- Have I identified a gap in the market?
- Reviewing a 10 point business plan.
- Reviewing how to take an idea into production.
“The interaction with the second-year students was amazing! I presented a case study about Fashion-Enter Ltd, and how this company started from zero finance trading. From humble beginnings trading from a donated shop in Croydon Centrale shopping centre to a company producing garments for Very Group and N Brown, plus an educational Fashion Technology Academy, providing education from Levels 1 to 5.”
The following day the event opened out to the general public and those that are specifically wanting to start or grow their own business. Here, Jenny gave a very personal account of her business journey, the highs and the lows, and she was able to advise on the attributes and knowledge required to run an effective business in today’s unpredictable economic climate.
Jenny added: “The second day was a very engaging session. The companies that attended were diverse, not all fashion, but it was a very proactive and the 2-hours ran on to nearly 3, and afterwards discussions continued into lunch!
“This 2-day event provided an excellent start to a long term partnership working with Newtown College, NPTC Group of Colleges in Powys.”
