Sustainability in the Early Years Sector: Nursery World Conference
04-12-2024
Fashion-Enter Ltd / FashionCapital Founder and CEO, Jenny Holloway was invited to join a panel discussion at the Sustainability in the Early Years Nursery World conference. Held on the 12th November in London, the conference covered core topics including; waste monitoring, carbon foodprints, benchmarking, reusable nappies, one-use plastic reduction, clean air, along with providing supportive education for sustainable citizenship and creating an eco-friendly setting.
Jenny talked about the various ways FEL has worked with the likes of LEYF and Kids Planet Day Care creating sustainable products such as bedsheets, tote bags, aprons, shoe covers, and additionally a celebration patchwork blanket.
On the conference she commented: “I was impressed with such a ‘can-do’, positive and proactive group, passionate about early years learning and implementing ethical and sustainable practices. What a huge contrast to the UK’s retail sector, the majority won’t even look at proximity sourcing and making in the UK.
“I met totally inspiring people that are actively trying to support lowering imports of cotton sheets, bags, aprons and want to safeguard local jobs. Shame on our retailers; with the US now driving the motto to ‘Make America Great Again’ with Trump protectionist policies will no doubt be put in place. The UK government needs to step in to protect local suppliers to reduce unnecessary shipping and bring those carbon footprint figures down.
“It was fantastic to be a part of such a supportive group exchanging ideas on ways to become carbon neutral in every aspect of their business.
“Thank you to June O’Sullivan OBE for all the ongoing support.”
FEL is dedicated to working alongside clients to find the most sustainable option for their product needs whilst flying the Made in the UK flag and safeguarding local employment.
