LFW SS19 Ones To Watch: AuCarre, Price on Request & Nous Etudions

26-01-2025

AuCarre’s collection is inspired by feminine surrealism, thus we see aspects of both reality and fantasy merging together in their pieces. Hand-drawn digital prints are feminine and bold as we see red and pink florals as well as patterns akin to silk scarves. Silhouettes straddle the line between architectural and romantic with tailored items and knitwear as well as lightweight draped garments. Sporty and elegant, youthful and luxurious, AuCarre’s offering is a mix of antitheses which harmonise perfectly to create a thoroughly contemporary and dynamic collection. Also worth noting: the shoes are so cute!!

Price on Request’s SS19 line takes us to the realm of clean silhouettes with oversized components and multiple layers. Their garments this season are all recycled/ environmentally-friendly and their ethos is always to create functional yet inventive clothing. We therefore see fitted tops and bottoms comprised of clashing prints and multiple fabrics as well as loose-fitting chaps attached to tailored trousers and shorts. The colour palette mainly consists of black with accents of bright orange, blue, and green. There’s also a rogue rainbow print!

The final designer, Nous Etudions, is perhaps the one most in line with my own aesthetic. Although minimalistic in style with mainly oversized and monochromatic clothing, the pieces are still innovative and interesting. This season’s collection is entitled “Creatures of the Universe” and we can see cut outs of these words branding some of their outerwear. Colours range from pastels (the pink is beyond adorable) to brighter accents of blue, yellow, green and gold. Wide lapels, ornamental ruching, and giant rectangular pockets all make an appearance this season but my favourite detail, if it can be called that, are the matching shoes!! They’re an intriguing mix between a ballet slipper and a loafer but they also just remind me of the little plastic bags you have to put on over your shoes at crime scenes? Words can’t express how much I love them and I honestly need a pink pair! Their philosophy is also firmly one of sustainability and veganism and this season, they utilised new biotextiles in collaboration with Franco Nencini, one of which is developed from kombucha!
