Fashion for All – Faduma Clothing Champions Adaptivewear at Front Row: Next Gen

10-10-2025

Last month, 17th September 2025, the Grand Hall at Battersea Arts Centre lit up with a celebration of inclusion, innovation, and impact during Front Row: Next Gen – a fashion show like no other. Among the standout brands was Faduma Clothing, an adaptivewear label founded by the inspiring Faduma Farah, who continues to redefine what inclusive fashion looks and feels like.

The Vision Behind Faduma Clothing

Faduma Clothing was born from a deeply personal mission. After surviving a near-fatal case of meningitis in 2011 that left her paralysed, Faduma Farah (pictured above) was struck by the limited and often uninspired clothing options available to wheelchair users. Fashion had always been a source of joy, self-expression, and identity for her and she knew others in the disabled community deserved the same.

With 1.2 million wheelchair users in the UK, the need for stylish, functional, and inclusive fashion is undeniable. Yet, adaptivewear remains a largely underserved category. Drawing inspiration from established sectors like maternity wear which exists for a population of around 839,000 in the UK, Faduma saw an opportunity to build a brand that not only fills this gap but uplifts and celebrates disabled people through design.

Her designs are created not only with accessibility in mind but also with a commitment to style, colour, and dignity.

As Faduma puts it: “Fashion is powerful. It empowers each of us to express our identity in how we present ourselves. It’s a source of dignity and visibility.”

Support from Fashion-Enter Ltd

To bring her latest vision to life for Front Row: Next Gen, Faduma worked with Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL), and its leading Fashion Studio and Factory based in Haringey, London. The FEL team supported Faduma Clothing with technical pattern development and sampling ahead of the show.

Claire Solley, FEL’s Technical Development Director, shared her thoughts on the collaboration:

“It was fantastic to see Faduma Farah’s designs gaining attention at the recent Front Row: Next Gen show. Her personal perspective on adaptive clothing resonates with her customers and the FEL team were pleased with the technical adaptations to ensure the garments are both practical and stylish.”

From functional seams to easy-access fastenings, the garments developed in collaboration with FEL proved that fashion can be both inclusive and exciting. The partnership highlighted the importance of technical expertise in bringing adaptivewear to life where every detail matters for both comfort and wearability.

Front Row: Next Gen, presented by spinal cord injury charity Back Up, was more than a fashion show. It was a celebration of resilience and creativity, spotlighting adaptive and sustainable fashion brands alongside powerful personal stories. Styled by fashion consultant Lisa Wisdom, the show featured eight incredible models affected by spinal cord injury including actor George Robinson, athlete Justin Levene, and blogger Heidi Herkes modelling looks from brands including Faduma Clothing, Intotum, May Marigold, Recondition, and Designer Exchange.

The event raised crucial funds for Back Up’s life-changing services from wheelchair skills training to mentoring and career support – helping people affected by spinal cord injury to live confidently and independently.
