#throwbackthursday: When Fashion – Enter Met Her Majesty With a Unique Jubilee Display

24-03-2025
To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 96th Birthday (21st April 2022) we throwback to a very special event that Fashion-Enter coordinated for her Diamond Jubilee…
As a part of her official Diamond Jubilee Tour, 15th May 2012, the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a visit to the aptly named Queen’s Garden and Glades Shopping Centre situated in Bromley, south London where 6,000 flag-waving schoolchildren lined the streets. There the Fashion Enter team worked with Bromley Borough Council to facilitate a unique fashion installation, which celebrated 60-years of British fashion’s heritage, that included a cream Hardy Amies ballgown from the 1950s and a Biba dress from the 1970s. Also on display were the various stages of the garment life cycle and a selection of top British designers working in the industry today.
The Mayor alongside Fashion Enter’s CEO Jenny Holloway guided the Queen around the various displays where she got to meet designers such as Emma Cook, Jean-Pierre Braganza, Jeff Banks, John Rocha and Bora Aksu. Wearing a pale blue wool dress and boucle coat by Stewart Parvin, with a matching hat by Rachel Trevor-Morgan the Queen was happy to talk with the designers and visit the various installation pods. The exhibition also included boutiques, up and coming labels, ethical bags printed on-site by Offset Warehouse and community projects such as an outfit designed for her majesty as visualized local primary school children.
The ‘London as a Global Centre of Fashion’ / Jubilee project took several months to coordinate and logistically combined exhibits, designers and businesses. This unique project saw many of the Fashion Enter team meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as well as showcase fashion’s heritage and skill. It was an experience the team will never forget.
