Celebrating £1.3 Million in Social Value: A Milestone for FEL’s FC Designer Workspace

20-09-2025

Last night, 22nd July, the team at Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) marked a major milestone at their FC Designer Workspace in Islington: the generation of an impressive £1.3 million in social value over just four and a half years. Hosted at the innovative workspace on Durham Road, the event brought together designers, industry professionals, local community members, and representatives from Islington Council to celebrate a project that’s transforming lives and supporting ethical fashion from the ground up.

The celebration was a moment to reflect on the immense impact the FC Designer Workspace has had since its inception. Over drinks and canapés, attendees heard firsthand stories from tenants and partners who have been part of this groundbreaking project, which combines affordable workspace, sustainable fashion practices, and community-focused training and support.

Jenny Holloway, Founder and CEO of FEL, addressed guests with heartfelt thanks: “Thanks to everyone that attended last night for the celebratory event for achieving over £1.3m worth of social value in 4.5 years — instead of ten!

“We have loved this project! I’ve been in the industry forever and I still do not know of any other circular fashion programme like the FC Designer Workspace and accompanying retail shop, FC Designer Collective.”

Guests also heard from several resident designers, whose journeys showcase the transformative power of this initiative. Racquel De Carvalho, once a renter of the cutting table space, is now a full studio tenant that is now showcasing her brand at London Fashion Week.

Maria from Shama Modesty Ltd, one of the first tenants at the workspace, spoke about her journey from having no sewing experience to launching a growing brand after completing FEL’s Level 1 stitching course. These are just two examples of the many success stories to emerge from the programme.

The success of the FC Designer Workspace is also thanks to the collaborative efforts with Islington Council. Special thanks were given to Caroline Wilson, Joyce Ogunade, and Nahom Tame for their continued support and dedication to inclusive, local economic development.

“Big shout out to the team that has made this such a success,” Holloway added, “and thanks to Islington Council for being such a great partner to work with.”

The FC Designer Workspace offers more than just affordable studio spaces. It’s a fully-equipped garment production facility with cutting tables, industrial machines, and training rooms. It also provides mentorship, business support, retail opportunities through the FC Designer Collective, and a circular fashion model that helps creatives grow sustainably. You can explore more about what’s on offer at: www.fcdesignerworkspace.co.uk.

Congratulations to the entire FEL team, Islington Council, and the vibrant designer community that has made this achievement possible. In a sector often challenged by fast fashion and lack of accessibility, this project proves that integrity, community, and creativity can deliver powerful results.
