Anti – Slavery Week 13th – 19th October 2025: Taking a Stand Against Modern Slavery

09-10-2025

From October 13th to 19th, 2025, the UK and Europe will observe Anti-Slavery Week, an annual initiative dedicated to raising awareness about modern slavery, human trafficking, and labour exploitation. The week culminates on Anti-Slavery Day, October 18th, and serves as a crucial reminder that slavery is not a relic of the past but a present-day reality affecting millions worldwide.

The purpose of Anti-Slavery Week is to highlight the ongoing problem of modern slavery and drive collective action towards its eradication. It’s a time for governments, businesses, communities, and individuals to reflect, learn, and commit to change.

Modern slavery can take many forms—forced labour, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, and more. Vulnerabilities are often exacerbated by conflict, poverty, migration, and climate change, making people more susceptible to coercion and abuse.

Activities and Campaigns

Throughout the week, organisations and individuals participate in:

Through our educational arm, Fashion Technology Academy (FTA), we are actively working to educate and empower workers through training.

(Workers’ rights course in Leicester – September 2025)

Thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), FTA Leicester has, once again, been funded to deliver employability and workers’ rights training to 45 individuals by March 2026. We’re proud to report strong progress: Last month, 15 learners successfully completed our first Level 1 course on Workers’ Rights and Labour Exploitation. This timely milestone aligns perfectly with Anti-Slavery Week, reinforcing the message that awareness and education are essential tools in fighting exploitation.
