Exciting times here at FashionCapital HQ, we are just a week away from our VIP launch event to celebrate our collaborative initiative with Haringey Council: The Fashion Technology Academy (FTA). Putting London, and specifically Haringey on the fashion production map the team are busy planning a full day of events for invited guests on Wednesday 25th November.
First up on the agenda is a fashion show presenting ten labels shortlisted for Hello! Fashion Monthly magazines’ new interactive e-tail website. The labels will be showcased and available to buy on the launch e-tail site that will go live in the New Year.
The first five labels confirmed to take part, in image order, are:

MP David Lammy will then acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of Stitching Academy & Fashion Technology Academy students over the past year with an awards presentation.

One to Watch
The day will continue with networking opportunities and an evening fashion show and awards presentation by Juliet Herd fromHello! Fashion Monthly magazine followed by an after party.

Statement Regarding FTA Guest of Honour June Sarpong
It is with regret that June Sarpong will not be attending the Fashion Technology Academy launch on 25th November. Unfortunately June has recently suffered a family bereavement and will not be in London for the next few months. FashionCapital sincerely respects this decision and our heartfelt condolences are with June and her family at this time.

Skills London 2015
The FashionCapital & Fashion Technology Academy team was inundated with visitors over the two-day careers exhibition ‘Skills London’. Held at ExCeL, on the 13th & 14th of November, Skills London 2015 presented visitors with careers, jobs and training options from a broad range of sectors. Focusing on young people aged 15-24 the event attracts more than 30,000 individuals across two days. The FashionCapital stand was bustling with activity and the team was kept busy with visitors asking questions, filling in contact forms and entering our ‘Party Outfit Design Competition’.

The ‘Design a Party Outfit’ winner will be announced soon and the winning design will go on to be produced in our North London factory!
Apprenticeship of the Week

ASOS.com have reopened applications for two positions: Buying Admin Apprentice and Merchandising Admin Apprentice. The team would like to review CV’s by the end of November with the post commencing at the beginning of January.

Today Jenny Holloway is giving a seminar to students at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) as well as assigning them a fashion/online marketing project.

Tomorrow 50 students will be travelling across from Bath Spa University to visit the Factory for a tour and overview of the garment life cycle.

Editor JoJo Iles attended an insightful ‘In Conversation’ event with the inspirational Gareth Pugh yesterday at the Fashion Museum in Bath. “Gareth was down-to-earth and very matter-of-fact with his career achievements and he placed great emphasis on key individuals that have helped him get to where he is today.”

Finally, staff from The Factory recently enjoyed a Bulgarian night out complete with dinner and dancing. It was great to see the team let their hair down and enjoy the evening!
