NEWSLETTER 4th FEBRUARY 2015
Dear all,
Yesterday, (3rd February) the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2015 took place in Mercedes Benz World in Weighbridge. The Future Manufacturing Awards highlight the resilience, determination and growth of British manufacturing, designed to showcase the best talent through a variety of industries.
Impressed by the Factory’s SMETA-approved status, 7,500 units a week turnaround, alongside the variety of training opportunities delivered on-site, Fashion Enter took home the British Growth Award – awarded to those who have achieved dramatic business growth and constantly deliver growth strategies.
CEO, Jenny Holloway comments: “We were overwhelmed! With such a high calibre of manufacturers applying for the award, we were really genuinely surprised to be awarded with the British Growth Award. Absolute credit to our amazing production team downstairs, they are gems and the skilled workforce behind the company. Many thanks to EEF for recognising the talent of Fashion Enter.”
Here Comes Finery…
Finery London officially launches tomorrow (5th February) and Fashion Enter has played a major part with the production of this exciting, grown-up brand. Here is what Sophie Glover, Head of Technical at Finery, had to say:
“I have always been in garment technology working for companies such as M&S, Gap, Topshop and ASOS.com, so I understand first-hand the importance of both reliable suppliers as well as effective training providers. I worked together with Jenny on the apprenticeship programme and the opening of The Factory, and when you work closely with someone for a long period of time you really do see and understand what makes them tick. Fashion Enter is an excellent resource, and they are always pushing their own boundaries to strive to be the best they can in both production and training. I am now the Head of Technical at Finery, and I have been working with Fashion Enter on some very tight deadlines to ensure our production is ready for the launch; and we did it! All work is a team effort and that’s exactly what we expect from Jenny and her team at Fashion Enter.”

Perfect Pattern Cutting
As the first Perfect Pattern Cutting course comes to a finish, head tutor Alice Prier comments on the system and students to take part…
Shortly after I joined Fashion Capital as a pattern cutter I had the good fortune to spend a week with Anastasia Vouyouka and her team learning the Telesia method of pattern cutting and the ingenious tools that go with it. The system seemed to work equally well for those of us with many years of experience under our pattern cutters belts and the students who’d never made a block before, yet alone one with a perfect fit.
Since the course I’ve been using the tools and method to create blocks and patterns for my clients at Fashion Enter and also teaching the system to the first group of students on the Perfect Patterns course. Here’s what Karen Gold who is both one of my students and also a client of Fashion Enter, where we’ve been creating samples for the jackets with clever inter-changeable collars she has designed, had to say…
“I thoroughly enjoyed the course and learnt so much that I can’t wait to start practising these new skills.”
Another student, Elizabeth Akingbade, print designer, commented, “Thank-you for all that you have taught me the past couple of months, I really value the knowledge you have shared and I look forward to using the Telesia tool to help create my next collection.”
We might be doing ourselves out of a job here!
The second Perfect Pattern course will be starting soon. For more information please email education@fashioncapital.co.uk

Boutique Pick of the Week
Founded by British, Zürich-based media and fitness enthusiast, Zoë Burnard struggled to find a brand that created fashionable yet functionable sportswear.
Drawing both inspiration for her brand ethos and name, it was on her gap-year travels that Zoe created Byron & Bronte (after Byron Bay and Bronte Beach in Australia). The now established brand bridges the gap between fashion and work out-gear, creating staple yoga and sportswear pieces that makes you feel and look good.
The swallow print as seen on the stone-grey leggings is a key print throughout the collection. Designed to flatter the female form, the waistband has been crafted high for an extra snug fit and coverage. Crafted from sweat-wicking and breathable fabric the leggings have been designed with a hidden pocket to store workout essentials.
