As you all know FashionCapital, and sister company Fashion Enter, is dedicated to the development of tomorrow’s fashion talent in all sectors of industry including production. We understand how tough and competitive the industry can be and that starting out can be a daunting experience. Factory Fabric Sale

Make a Fashion Revolution

FashionCapital.co.uk and London Model Academy have joined forces to acknowledge Fashion Revolution Day on 24th April in a networking event for new and emerging fashion creatives set to take the industry by storm!

The event will take place in the industrial setting of Fashion Enter’s Fashion Technology Academy – a revolution in itself, intertwining real manufacturing skills into accredited learning across a range of qualifications including design, grading, quality control, fabric cutting and much more!

Couturier Open for Business

generic apprentice small 2The Fashion Enter Couturier has opened its doors alongside the Fashion Technology Academy, and as a result is currently in discussion with luxurious department store Harrods regarding a début couture range consisting of 16 different styles. That’s all we’re able to announce for the time being, further updates to follow!

Joining Fashion Enter has been perfect timing for me. I started my career as a machinist with S R Gent in Barnsley and look at me know! I am running all the quality assurance systems for the Factory, the Fashion Studio and our new very posh Couturier. We have over 100 staff now and the standard is excellent. Your Body: Your Block – Pattern Cutting Course

By popular demand after the success of the ‘revolutionary’ Pattern Cutting course, FashionCapital’s Senior Pattern Cutting expert, Alice Prier will be holding short, one-day courses to teach new learners how to construct and create patterns.

The short, 5 hour class will run from 10am-3pm in the newly launched, Fashion Technology Academy, which will be fully equipped with pattern-making facilities. The course will condense the best and most important information of the full 5-day Perfect Pattern Cutting course following a soar in demand for a short alternative at the Knitting & Stitching show.

Wednesday 22nd April 2015 – Your body: Your block – Dresses

The course will enable learners to:

– Take personal measurements

– Adapt a pattern for a simple garment

– Construct a sample to fit your measurements

Do you know what to look for and what questions to ask when working with your manufacturer?

In this workshop learn the basic process for manufacturing and what the key elements are to look for:

Pre-planning the visit, setting an agenda and what you really want to achieve.

Communicate to the factory and to your own team.

Tell the factory and confirm; get the right people involved.

Show respect and understanding.

Provide feedback to the factory.

What are the key elements to a costing? Cost of fabric (price V’s usage) make-up costs, trims, logistics.

Types of sampling – design and product development, fits and contract seals.

How samples are generated?

Cost of a sample, getting approvals and speed of response

And much more!

Beginners Stitch & Make

15 april beginners stitchingOur first batch of beginner courses; Absolute Beginners, SOS Sewing Alterations and Bonkers for Bags are currently underway providing an informative, creative and fun approach for those wanting to try their hand at making.

Following the soft launch of The FTA (Fashion Technology Academy), the 7,500 Sq Ft space is now in preparation of the run-up to the official launch of 8 new, accredited fashion courses. Combining trainers with expert practitioners and the opportunity to update and learn new skills with the latest state-of-the-art dress-making equipment, prior to the official opening the FTA is holding these frequently requested taster courses. 

The taster courses are targeted at those looking to get a first insight or improve very basic knowledge in sewing, the short 3-5 hour courses combine theory with practical, also giving learners the opportunity to create a final piece using industrial machinery. The classes teach students the basics yet essential tools and knowledge of sewing and have already received “outstanding” reviews and feedback. 

The taster courses are taught by industry experts with years of experience in pattern cutting and stitching, with students rating the tutors a consistent 10 out of 10.

The EEF Future Manufacturing Awards tonight!

15 april future manufacturing awardsThe EEF Future Manufacturing Awards are the most established and respected regional and national recognition of manufacturing success. Fashion Enter won the Regional awards for Business Growth earlier this year and tonight will be attending the National Gala Dinner at The Grand Hall, Grand Connaught Rooms in London to reveal the 2015 National winners of the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards. Future Opportunities Event

Fashion Enter have been invited to participate at the Futures Opportunities event, which will be held on Friday April 24th at The Junction, 2nd Floor in Wood Green library. From 2 – 5pm. This event will be held by Haringey Council, aimed at 16+who are NEET or uncertain about their current plans after school. This will allow us to explain the courses that we offer at our new Fashion Technology Academy.

This event will allow Fashion Enter to interact with a number of organisations including, training providers in the borough, local students from Haringey schools and community NEET projects.

There will be information, careers advice and guidance on training opportunities, education, and employment. This includes: traineeships, apprenticeships, employment, and college courses and volunteering opportunities.
