How to Succeed in Fashion Today seminar
The all day seminar for new members to FashionCapital took place at The Fashion Studio yesterday. Recently joined members came along to not only meet with the team to learn about all the services now available to them but they were also able to gain top industry knowledge from our expert guest speakers! This included Geoff Hollett who gave a fantastic overview into business strategy and writing a business plan, Nigel Rust our Manufacturing Specialist who spoke about Production for Today’s Designer and Trends Analyst Marlena Woodford who gave a unique and inspiring insight into the world of Trends – what they are, where do they come from and looking at how trend companies worked.
Overall a resounding success with the designers walking away feeling motivated and inspired:
‘Great day, thank you. Especially Marlena. She was brilliant!’
‘Thank you so much for today I learned so much and met great people!’
Watch this space for the announcement of the next seminar. This will be FREE for all new members and at a cost of £50 plus vat to non members.

Production – finding and selecting your manufacturer by Nigel Rust
Here is a sneak preview into the specialist advice you can receive first hand:
We will soon be at the time in the fashion season when designers are ready to place production orders. Soon afterwards thoughts turn to the next season’s designs and getting samples made all over again.
So while the focus has been on design, marketing, showing and selling, a designer cannot ignore production.
The lucky ones will already have excellent relationships with tried and tested manufacturers (whether they be sampling units, short-run production units or larger volume manufacturers). Others, however, will be looking for a manufacturer that gives them the delivery, quality and price they need. And, of course, new designers will be looking for their first manufacturer.
