NEWSLETTER 3rd JULY 2013
Dear all,
It has been another exciting week here at FashionCapital HQ. The big news is that our sister company Fashion Enter was awarded the ‘Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ for the Social Enterprise category for the London and South region. Brilliant news and recognition for the company, CEO Jenny commented:
“A company is only as good as the team that works there and how blessed are we to have such amazing talented people! The last seven years has been a journey but the vision was always clear. Business today is also about giving and creating a lasting legacy for all we work with and supply.
Thank you also to Ernst & Young for their confidence in us and the mentoring we have received to date – this has made a great impact very quickly!
Finally our clients have also been truly amazing as has our supply base. The award is for us all! I just had a good idea and I wouldn’t give up!”

Feedback from Those That Have Worked With Us…
Councillor Derek Levy:
“Congratulations. Much deserved, and another worthy notch on the ladder of success.”
Designer Maria Tukhas:
“After studying at Central Saint Martins on a Product Design course I set up my fashion/lifestyle brand with the key idea to use a personification tool to empower the consumer – provide them with a premium product that reflects their identity. At this point I got super lucky and discovered Fashion Enter which literally breathed life into my project.
My first impression of them was that these people make things happen. It then proceeded with the realization that they actually make dreams happen. At our first meeting I saw the factory and gave my piece of design to Jenny to review and these two events alone made me progress so quickly and underline that everything was HIGH Standard. Moreover, Jenny not only outlined the areas I needed to improve, she helped to do so. My second visit to the Fashion Studio I was impressed with the professionalism of the personnel and their supportive, friendly and encouraging attitude – not being from fashion background it was vital for me to have a ‘helpful hand’ in resolving the multitude of details that needed to be addressed to produce a garment!
Overall, Fashion Enter has been an amazing discovery so far – it served exactly what the name states – entering the fashion world and helping to do so not through the backdoor, but developing your product good enough to be accredited for a ‘red carpet’ entry in the future.”
Michaela Jedinak David Lethbridge – The Joy of Clothes
“Many thanks your help bringing the concept (Michaela Jedinak Dress Collection) to reality. We really appreciate that you believed in our concept from the beginning and have been so supportive and encouraging throughout the roller coaster journey. We have lots to do but we are enjoying the moment and look forward to accelerating from here.
Congratulations on your Ernst & Young award. A fantastic achievement and very well deserved.”

On FashionCapital This Week…
Elsewhere on FashionCapital editor JoJo Iles visited Carole Waller’s creative studio to discuss wearable art and her career thus far. She also reviewed a brand new book by Rachel Woods entitled ‘The Model’s Guide’ a frank and insightful view into the life of a professional working model. Meanwhile, Marks & Spencer announced that they will be offering more than 1,400 work experience placements for 16-25 year olds, in conjunction with the Princes Trust. And in Paris, the Menswear Collections gave way to the A/W Couture Shows and so far there is a distinct nod to a modern linear aesthetic.

At The Factory
Tracy Burke has been appointed the assistant manager at The Factory. Having run her own factories in South Africa, and creating a successful business in her home town, Cape Town, she decided to venture abroad to learn more about the industry in the UK, and to spread her knowledge that she has learnt from industry leaders in South Africa.
Having grown up in the industry and learning everything she knows from being hands on, adding to this her Bachelor of Arts degree from Unisa, she is adding fresh, young, positive energy into a very exciting factory environment.

British company Beanie & Bear is set to launch a range of swimwear for girls and boys aged 3-12

The brainchild of Noya Bebawi (Graphic designer, children’s illustrator and mother of 2 – Yasmin “Beanie” and Milo “Bear”) Beanie and Bear’s mission is to deliver high quality bikinis and tailored trunks in a range of bold colours and playful prints that the parents will be coveting.
Think pint sized Orlebar Brown. These will be instantly recognisable pieces made with a real focus on a perfect fit and an emphasis on quality and durability. An antidote to little wet bottoms jumping around in saggy smalls that grown ups wouldn’t be seen dead in the range will also include breezy kaftans for the girls and loose shirts for the boys creating a complete beach solution for your little ones.
“I wanted to bring together the aesthetic of great adult swimwear with a sense of the playful that will appeal to little people. This has been as much about bringing a vision in my head to life as it has been about getting inspiration from my children. Yasmin’s illustrations have formed the basis for a range of prints and Milo has an uncanny ability to test things to destruction. I really have to thank them for contributing to the design and for keeping me focussed on making sure that each of the pieces is ready for action.”
