NEWSLETTER 30 OCTOBER 2013
Dear All,
With Halloween & Fireworks night almost done and dusted retailers are cracking on with their countdown to Christmas. Selfridges have unveiled their world-renowned windows with displays that super-size their favourite gift items in amongst snowy, alpine scenes. According to a recent survey by the Confederation of British Industry, high street sales across the UK dipped and stalled during October. However, the general consensus is that robust growth is expected to return in the run up to Christmas.

On FashionCapital This Week
The British Fashion Council has announced the nominees in the running for this year’s ‘British Fashion Awards’. Take a look and earmark your favourites. New to the FashionCapital collective is freelance fashion stylist and writer Katie Farley, her first article for us focuses on autumn/winter hair and make-up trends, click here to read more. While Permira’s latest acquisition – iconic British boot brand Dr Marten’s – has left industry insiders rather stunned.

Make-up essentials for Halloween by Katie Farley
FashionCapital Factory Party
Last week FashionCapital held an early Halloween party for all Factory employees. The party provided a chance for all involved to let their hair down and have some fun, hair was, quite literally let down albeit in the bad taste wig department. Thanks to all that came drank, danced and donned a bad hair-do.

Made at the Fashion Studio
Westfield London has joined forces with 5 London Fashion Week designers to celebrate its 5th anniversary. Louise Gray, Richard Nicoll, Sophia Webster, Peter Pilotto and Thomas Tait have worked the luxe sportswear trend to create limited edition sweatshirts, fusing their signature style with ‘Westfield London’ as their design inspiration. A London product through-and-through, the sweatshirts were not only designed by London Fashion Week Designers but produced in London by our very own team at the Fashion Studio! (A well-deserved pat on the back requested here!)
The one-off covetable creations will be available to purchase from £65 each at an exclusive pop-up shop at Westfield London that will open from 30th October to 3rd November – all proceeds from each sale to go to Save the Children.
