Dear all,
Profile in association with the London Garments Expo – 2012
Today has seen the first day and opening of the Profile fashion event at the London Garments Expo. The Business Design Centre has been transformed into a design and manufacturing hub of excellence with over 100 manufacturers from all over the world and 20 exclusive designer collections all showcasing under one roof.
Today commenced with the official opening by Sourcing and Buying Director of New Look, Philip Walker. Philip took the honour of cutting the ribbon and then introduced the event with a few words about the celebration of Profile’s 11th year of supporting up and coming designers and how fantastic it is to combine it this year with global manufacturers.

The opening was followed by the first catwalk show of the event. A high octane, energetic show with models and dancers showcasing the very best designer collections. It was fantastic to see our designers such as Torres, Vjera Vilicnik and Riona Treacy really standing out!
Philip Walker then visited each of the Profile stands. He paid particular attention to the bright, body con dresses by Torres. Rebecca Torres was on her stand and was personally introduced to Philip. ‘It was wonderful to meet the Sourcing and Buying Director from New Look. Philip noticed my dresses which was a great honour.’

Further visitors to today’s event included the Director of Design and Head of Contemporary Brands at House of Fraser who both paid particular attention to Riona Tracey’s stand, and the fabric technologist from Next who spent time chatting to actress and model Maisy James and reviewing her debut collection.
Maisy James

So far a great success with designers making invaluable contacts and building unique relationships to enable their brand to succeed.
Tomorrow will see the exclusive VIP evening gala with Maisy modelling her own collection in the catwalk show and bringing over 200 guests, and an impressive line up of press and buyers all confirmed to attend! It should be a night to remember in the world of designer talent and manufacturing excellence.
This Morning’s Perfect Party Dress
FashionCapital is delighted to be working in unison with ITV1’s flagship daytime show and leading departmental store John Lewis on an exciting new competition set to be launched on the popular daytime TV show this autumn!
‘This Morning’s Perfect Party Dress’ competition is a nationwide search for the perfect party dress for the Christmas Season – with the winning dress being sold in John Lewis.
Judging the competition are Amy Molyneaux & Percy Parker of fashion label PPQ; Jo Hooper, Head of Buying, Womenswear at John Lewis and This Morning’s Fashion expert & stylist Faye Sawyer.
Entrants will be put through their paces in a series of challenges, including pitching their design, making their dress and showcasing it in a catwalk show and finally marketing their dress in a window at John Lewis’ Oxford Street Store. The This Morning audience will then vote to decide the winning dress, with the winner being announced during the Live show.
Judging Criteria:
• To design a dress that fits well, and fits the brief of a party dress. It must make the wearer both look and feel good and appeal to a range of ages/sizes. • Affordability – the dress will need to follow the requirements to be mass produced and be appropriate for sale in high street retail store. • Originality • Saleability – Must be suitable for the current fashion market and to be sold in John Lewis.
All entries must be submitted directly to ITV.com. (Details to follow shortly!)
