Stitch in Time
The launch of the Stitch in Time programme took place last Friday at The Workshop and with Minister Stephen Timms in attendance it was a great success! The Rt. Hon Stephen Timms commented:
‘I was impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment of everyone at Florentia Clothing Village. I was pleased to find 32 CMT units working at full capacity there, and to be told about signs of a real revival in UK textile manufacturing. The unique 'Stitch in Time' programme, launched by Fashion Enter on the day of my visit and delivered at their factory, The Workshop, aims to tackle firms' skill shortages. It is for unemployed residents of Haringey and can be tailored to suit every single participant.'
The course has now commenced and one of the trainees Aku Nkem had this to say:
‘An invaluable experience being taught by highly talented and professional trainers with years of experience, in a fast paced yet relaxed atmosphere. Meeting designers such as Susannah Stone from Dress me Joyce who have been so supportive and encouraging, has given an extra boost. Definitely a must for anyone wanting hands on experience into the production side and designing side of the fashion industry.'
