NEWSLETTER Dear all,
Exciting times here at FashionCapital HQ, our sister company Fashion Enter is to receive support and funding from Social Business Trust (SBT). SBT has agreed to support Fashion Enter with expert consultancy to the value of £120,000, and a cash grant of £100,000. This support and funding will help the business to grow, allowing it to offer more advanced apprenticeships from its base in Haringey, London, and develop its training offering.
Adele Blakebrough, CEO of SBT, said: “the Fashion Enter story is a fantastic one to be a part of. Jenny is an inspiration, showing it is possible to not only provide compliant and competitive manufacturing services to the industry, but also to develop people’s skills, and help to revive a lost art in UK industry. We are enjoying working with Jenny to ensure Fashion Enter becomes an established and sustainable provider of manufacturing, employment and training in its sector.”
Founder and CEO Jenny Holloway added that: “the support of Social Business Trust is proving invaluable at this crucial period in our growth. With the recent approval from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for our apprenticeships, and the increasing demand on our manufacturing services, it is vital that we develop the skills and capabilities to grow. SBT is such a good partner to have on our side.”
What a brilliant start to the year for the company. To read the full article please click here.

This week our header and footer features S/S 14 couture designs by Ziad Ghanem. Fresh back from Paris the collection, inspired by Queen Victoria and Walt Disney’s villains, was modelled and photographed on plus size models stamping that message down that you do not need to be a size 0 to enjoy fashion or express yourself. Ghanem’s unique signature style will be available to order in a range of sizes from 8 -24, echoing his vision, hopelessly romantic and yet elaborately modern.

The Stitching Academy
Providing fundamental key skills in garment construction the 6-week Level 1 Stitching Academy course provides the perfect stepping stone to enter into the manufacturing or design side of the industry.
As reported widely in the press of late the British manufacturing industry is crying out for skilled workers to develop brands that are truly designed and made in Britain – be a part of this exciting, fast paced industry. We currently have a few places open.
The Stitching Academy is a wide-reaching extension of the UK’s first ever National Apprenticeship in Fashion and Textiles Apparel scheme, initiated two years ago – through which:
• 120 young people will complete with a Level 1 qualification in “Stitching Skills” after a six-week internship, during which their daily expenses will be paid
• At least forty young people will go onto employment, further education or additional apprenticeships
• Skills gained will include: Sewing & Stitching, Machinery Operation, Inspecting & Measuring and Health & Safety, all trained at The Factory in Haringey, London
• ASOS Foundation, a registered charity, will supply all technical equipment and machinery, matching contributions from Haringey Council for teaching costs
• All activity will be supported by grant funding from the Department of Work & Pensions via Jobcentre Plus to drive British manufacturing by young people

Wandsworth Youth Project Update
15 hopeful candidates for the Wandsworth Youth Project visited the Factory last week in the hope of being selected as finalists for the innovative project.
Candidates were treated to an insight into the fashion industry through a guided tour of the factory and a talk from Jenny Holloway before being given time to sketch their designs. The designs were to be created using iconic British architecture as inspiration for structure and silhouette. The winner will go onto develop their skills and see their design come to life, styled and modelled in a professional photo shoot. Before going onto be displayed in Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park, alongside other top designers work.

Impressed with the high calibre of candidates, the judging of the final 10 was a tough call. The Fashion Enter staff were responsible for choosing the finalists, based on the individuals designs, passion and unique creativity.
