Calling Menswear Designers!

FashionCapital is delighted to announce an exciting new collaboration with leading departmental store Debenhams.

We are looking for ten UK up and coming menswear designers to be put forward to showcase at the Profile fashion event.

Debenhams will then select two of these designers at Profile to preview a small eight piece collection at two Debenhams stores.

We are taking expression of interest forms now so if you are a menswear designer please express your interest here and return to jenni@fashion-enter.com and updates with follow on how to apply!

Established in 2001 Profile is widely considered as the industry bridge between the new faces of Graduate Fashion Week and the names of London Fashion Week. It is an exciting opportunity to see the new talent in the fashion industry hit the cat-walk, sometimes for the first time.

Debenhams has been with the philosophy and ethos of Profile from the very beginning in 2001 so it is fantastic to gain their involvement and support for Profile in 2011!

TOWIE star to attend Profile!

Here at FashionCapital we are delighted to announce we will be expecting a very special guest at our upcoming Profile fashion show  –  none other than reality star Lauren Goodger from the BAFTA award winning tv show The Only Way is Essex. Watch this space for further updates!

Calling All Apprentices!

If you are yet to apply for the fashion and textiles apprenticeship, do not hesitate any longer as you still have time to join the next cohort. With over 20 employers on board now and interviews well underway, now is the perfect time for you to get involved in the only fashion and textiles apprenticeship program currently offered in London in apparel. To apply is simple; all you have to do is email a copy of your CV to apprenticeships@fashioncapital.co.uk.

There are some eligibility criteria that you must meet before submitting your CV however, you need to have a minimum of 5 A-C GCSE grades (which must be itemised on your CV providing a clear list of your subjects and the grade you scored for each of them) whilst you must also be aged 16-24 and to not have a qualification higher than level 4, therefore no degree students can apply.

The course itself is 18 months in duration of which you will be employed for this whole period. You will be working with the employer 4 days out of 5 each week and will take lessons with Fashion Enter at the Workshop for the remaining week day. The minimum amount your employer has to pay you is £100 per week and increases are subject to their discretion.

Greetings from Sunny Bath

As mentioned over the past two weeks the future of the boutique is in question as we are currently in dispute with Bath & North East Somerset council over rates. To read the full story go to http://www.petitiononline.co.uk/petition/british-designersfashioncapital-bath-save-our-shop/2977 . A reviewed decision has yet to be made from the council and we thank those who have signed and supported our petition so far. Louise Pickles, Fashion course leader at Bath Spa University has shown her support and we are currently in touch with retail guru Mary Portas and her ‘Save Our High Street’ campaign. The story featured in this weeks’ Bath Chronicle and ironically the images in the Bath Spa graduate show report on the very same page as our article feature several designs from the ASOS Black project we ran with the 2nd Year students.

On a lighter note don’t forget it’s the Paolita designer swimwear discount day at the boutique tomorrow from 12pm until close (Thursday 30th). Paolita’s pieces are beautifully cut to enhance those female curves and in a selection of vibrant prints and colours. Our mannequins are dressed and ready – here’s a sneaky peek.

Boutique Pick Of The Week

Forget the tye dye, reinvention we saw in the 90s. This time round it’s all about wearing it with subdued pieces, like denim shorts and a trilby. Think casual and effortlessly cool look, take inspiration from Glastonbury. This vest from Zoe Boomer is perfect for presenting colour blocking, and the love we all share for the 60s and 70s. Bold and beautiful is the motto for this week (hopefully the sun will last long enough for us to show off this new look!).
