Dear all,

LGE in association with Profile – 2012

As the London Garments Expo in association with Profile fast approaches FashionCapital is delighted to confirm a selection of the leading British designers that participated in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee event in May will be recreating the same heritage display. Designers such as Bora Aksu, Jean Pierre Braganza and Jeff Banks have all agreed to include one of their garments in the display which will be leading the event.

We are also excited to confirm another country that is going to be involved with the event. A group of 5 to 10 Mauritians will be showcasing at the Mauritian Pavilion throughout the three days and we are thrilled to welcome them to London.

The London Garments Expo in association with Profile is really shaping up to be an international event with a plethora of countries already participating.

Funding for New Business’s

Starting a business is a daunting prospect, especially when the economy is not as good as it once was and banks are reluctant about lending money for new ventures. However, there are lots of other ways to raise money through different forms of grants and loans from places you may never expect. Ways include government and charitable grants from organisations such as The Tudor Trust; to The FFC, which sees people lend their own money, meaning comfortable rates for new businesses; to The SEIS, where investors put in venture capital and get shares back. Fashion Enter has collated 15 different ways of raising capital so you can see which one suits your business best.

LASER Manufacturing Alliance

Fashion Enter is working in partnership with LASER.

London and South East Region (LASER) Manufacturing Alliance is dedicated to supporting and promoting manufacturing across London, Essex, Kent and East Sussex.

Most manufacturers themselves are so hard at work in and on their businesses, that they don’t have time to see what is happening ‘out there’. This Alliance aims to reach out to businesses and help them get the most out of what others have experienced – new processes, product development techniques to explore/exploit new markets and people development – including recruitment.’

Fashion Capital is proud to be supporting the UK Fashion Hub’s bid for the occupancy of the Press and Broadcast Centres at the Queen Elizabeth Park (as the Olympic site will be known after the Games).

Gavin Ambrose of the Fashion Hub’s Marketing team explains why they are so excited about the project, “Our bid has the potential to bring together manufacturers, designers and technology developers, all together in a single creative hub. This will bring real change to the area, with the creation of around 4,000 jobs.

As we get nearer to the start of the Olympics, we feel more strongly than ever that what we’re embarking upon is the creation of a movement to unite the strands of the British fashion industry. Our industry is already a strong community, but by bringing all its many elements together, we can only strengthen it further.”

This seems an optimum time for the Fashion Hub, with a long overdue return to manufacturing in the UK.  Hackney, the London borough where the Olympic site is based, is already home to some of the leading fashion houses in the UK, so there couldn’t be a better location for a centre uniting all strands of the fashion industry than London’s emerging creative quarter.

The Fashion Hub will be working with partners including Decathlon, Museum of London, Loughborough University and London based colleges, to create a single centre dedicated to uniting the British fashion industry in one buzzing hub.

We would like to wish the UK Fashion Hub success in their bid.”
