Clothes Show Live is just over one week away and all the last minute preparations are now being finalised! Clothes Show Live 2009 promises to be huge and we are delighted that the FashionCapital.co.uk boutique will be once again wowing shoppers with its eclectic mix of up and coming designers!


This year sees the events 21st Anniversary so be assured that all the stops will be pulled out to make this truly spectacular and not to be missed!

The Profile catwalk show has a strong presence at Clothes Show this year with our new and emerging fashion designers taking to the catwalk at 1.30pm every day on the Image Catwalk.

Revving up for Clothes Show Live

Rev up, a two year funded programme to help businesses succeed in the NDC community, has enabled 6 six local businesses in Haringey to take a stand at this years event. We are now delighted to confirm that Rev up with also be negotiating expenses for each company to travel to the NEC and sell their collections to the 180 000 consumers attending the Clothes Show!

Free business support for Women in Work


Over the past few months FashionCapital has been able to support many women working in the fashion and textiles sector with great thanks to Skillfast-UK. Due to the Women in Work funded programme over 20 women have gained free business support and training at The Workshop as well as free membership with FashionCapital! We are delighted to announce that this offer has been extended and further places are now available for this fantastic opportunity!

Fashion Enter in dispute with Bournemouth Council


As you can see from the article below Fashion Enter has a running dispute with Bournemouth Council. The dispute is over their decision not to grant us Discretionary Rate Relief even though we are a not for profit company.  It has angered designers and students and now the matter is under investigation with the Council.  The Daily Echo featured us in last Friday's paper. All entries have now been received and we are very happy with the level of work. Well done to all designers who have made a tremendous effort here. All work will now be taken to the Pittards Head Office for judging on the 1st December. The winner will be announced at Clothes Show Live – Good luck to everyone!

Update from The Showroom


The manic last couple of weeks have really paid off and as a result; The Showroom is pleased to announce that two new appointments with buyers have been confirmed including leading departmental store John Lewis in which we are now new suppliers to.


If you would like to show for either of these meetings then please note the date changes and also note that collections will be required at the showroom and you will need to call either myself or Roz to arrange a time slot for you each to drop in your collections.

Please also note that you will be required to complete a spec sheet (available to members only) for each piece in your collection and also list your 3 key selling points.  If you have any press coverage etc, then please provide copies so that we can also use to help sell your brand.

ALL I WANT FOR XMAS – The Christmas shopping event at the Truman Brewery.

 

We have limited spaces available in the The Xmas Gift + Design Market, on the first floor of the largest event spaces on Brick Lane + Hanbury Street. The new market (which interconnects with Sunday Up Market directly below and The Vintage Market next door), will be open from 26th Nov for 4 weeks before Christmas. In addition, the first floor will be home to other weekend events and exhibitions.

Fashion enter will be having a market space over the Christmas period and is offering all designers the chance to have their designs exhibited their too.

All we as is for £50 + vat which will cover the 4 weeks and we will take care of the rest! This fabulous reduced rate is open to members only.

FashionCapital was recently invited to celebrate the top 8 tennis players on the ATP tour participating in the world championships in London this year where leading sports brand Lacoste has teamed the theory of trajectory transpiring into light to create chaotic patterns within the “lightbox”. This 120m² unique structure located in Convent Garden illuminates the square to entice passers by to experience how sound and movement will transform into coloured patterns in motion. The launch event took place last Thursday and attracted the likes of celebrity stylist to the stars; Avigail Claire who styles Daisy Lowe, Ciara, Rhianna and Jamie Cullum.

The Stitch in Time programme is propelling one of the students to stardom by providing the opportunity for Syreeta Richards – Campbell of Cutting Edge Designs to sell at Clothes Show supported with additional promotion in abundance.

Stitch in Time Placements

Fashion Enter have now engaged with 38 unemployed residents eagerly seeking to secure long term employment in the fashion industry. The Workshop will educate 70 individuals about the wonderful world of fashion within a factory environment to prepare them for the transition into employment. The students are highly motivated and keen to secure jobs in fashion however part of the course entails a 2 week work placement with a company for which they will work for free. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise up and coming talent to your advantage and assist the progression of your business.
