Our Changing High Street
Following the statistics released by PWC which show that the pace of shop closures on the High Street has slowed, Alexandra Millward-Hopkins, Associate at Charles Russell LLP, commented:
“These statistics show just how much the landscape of our high street is changing as consumers are beginning to embrace new ways of shopping. High street retailers offering online and multi-channel purchase platforms have benefited hugely by expanding the horizons of the conventional retail experience to provide the modern consumer with new and convenient ways of shopping. The UK regulatory platform in this area is favourable and supports retailers taking the leap to serve the modern consumer. While certain types of shops have closed in favour of making an online offering alone, coffee shops and entertainment brands have sprung up in their place. This natural progression means that today’s high street has evolved into something more enjoyable and more indulgent. Something to linger over when you have the time.”

Boutique Pick of the Week
Skunkfunk started in the mid 1990s with a simple t-shirt line. It was all sourced, manufactured and distributed locally in the Basque Country. Step by step, the project grew, making it necessary to expand to new sourcing, new partners. Before they knew it, their supply chain had grown to a totally new scale. Skunkfunk understood at that time it would be a challenge to maintain the same knowledge and control of their supply chain. Farmers, spinners, weavers, knitters, finishers, printers, manufacturers, warehouses, packers, and shippers. Keeping track of each step of processing. Not only for the sake of transparency, but to identify where the social and environmental impacts are. Throughout this long process, some tools have helped the brand move forward. The Global Organic Textile Standard certification system is one of them.
This week we have picked out a Skunkfunk blue & green bold Aztec feel printed top with draped sleeves and wide neck. One to get you noticed and ethically made too!
Price £38.50
