Non Members: £399
Members: £199

Calling All Apprentices!
If you are yet to apply for the fashion and textiles apprenticeship, do not hesitate any longer as you still have time to join the next cohort. With more employers coming on board each day we are busy lining up interviews for our applicants so far each week. To apply is simple; all you have to do is email a copy of your CV to apprenticeships@fashioncapital.co.uk.
There are some eligibility criteria that you must meet before submitting your CV however, you need to have a minimum of 5 A-C GCSE grades (which must be itemised on your CV providing a clear list of your subjects and the grade you scored for each of them) whilst you must also be aged 16-24 and to not have a qualification higher than level 4, therefore no degree students can apply.
The course itself is 18 months in duration of which you will be employed for this whole period. You will be working with the employer 4 days out of 5 each week and will take lessons with Fashion Enter at the Workshop for the remaining week day. The minimum amount your employer has to pay you is £100 and increases are subject to their discretion.

Key Elements of a Successful Fashion Business
Specialist advisor Nigel Rust is set to hold a further series of Be Business Ready workshops. Here is a taster on what to expect:
How do you measure success?
If you measure success by how famous you are, then a very small number of new fashion designers will be very successful.
If, however, you measure success on how much your business earns, then many new designers could be successful. There may be varying degrees of success, of course, and there are no guarantees. And, in fact, a lot of new designers don’t make a success of their business.
Business is risky, and fashion can be riskier than others. But, as with all businesses there are certain things that successful businesses have in common. This article explains some of the things that a successful business does to reduce the riskiness and increase the chances of success (and, if you are lucky, maybe fame as well).

Fashion Enters W1 Showroom to continue!
Last week we announced the closing of our W1 boutique and showroom space where we have been based for the last six months on a pop up shop basis. The original agreement was for just 3 months but proved to be so successful that the agreement expanded until May 2011. We are now delighted to announce that the new tenant of W1 is up and coming swimwear label Paolita.
Having built good relations over the last 12 months, Paolita have agreed to share the showroom with FashionCapital for buying and press meetings to support the new and emerging designers.
Managing Director of Paolita, Joseph Bachman says: “2 Seymour Place is the perfect space to showcase the brand. The showroom and retail space offers an ideal opportunity for customers and press alike to view the collections in full, as well as allowing us to work alongside some exciting up and coming designers.”
Director of Fashion Enter, Jenny Holloway, commented: “In these difficult trading times it’s uplifting to know that we can all work together as a team for the common good of the fashion industry. We have formed a unique relationship with Paolita and have been delighted to see that their range has quickly become a real force in the swimwear industry.”

British Designers Bath…students, samples and sales
It has been another action packed week at British Designers@FashionCapital in Bath. First and foremost we would like to congratulate all the Bath Spa 2nd Year fashion degree students on completing the brief we set them at the end of March. Students were given the choice of designing a capsule range for ASOS Black or Belles of London at the Clothes Show. The majority selected ASOS Black as their target client and the range of work on display was highly impressive. Jenny Holloway commented: “Overall I was very impressed with the standards of presentation, design content, quality of samples and the actual interpretation of the initial brief.” The FashionCapital team are currently reviewing all the students work and will be announcing an overall winner in due course.
The first samples of winning South West competition designer, Joshua Riches, have been produced by the team at the workshop and we look forward to having the capsule range available to sell in store soon!
Meanwhile, new in at the boutique we have some more of S M Walker’s show stopping leather collars and a selection of her leather clutch bags, along with new stock in from Belles of London and Jolaby.

More next week from gorgeous Bath.
