NEWSLETTER Dear all,
FashionExpo designers
The selection process for designers showcasing at Profile at FashionExpo took place yesterday and what a gruelling task the judges had!
The event will be taking place on 19th November at the Business Design Centre and will unite designers with manufacturers, buyers and retailers.
Well done to all the designers who applied to take part. The judges had a very difficult task on their hands due to the exceptional standard of work and thus final deliberations are still taking place. The final list of exhibitors and those who have made it onto the catwalk will be released shortly
What the PR Dispensary Service can do for you.
The PR Dispensary available to members of FashionCapital at an extra cost really does work. Take a look at this recent piece for FashionCapital member, Blow-pipe, in leading trade publication Childrenswear Buyer.
Childreswear label Blow-pipe recently joined FC and took full advantage of the the PR Dispensary service where by a tailor made press release is written complete with images and then distributed on a weekly basis to an extensive database of publications and journalists.
Blow-pipe creates funky outerwear and accessories for the little individuals of today and knowing only to well the importance of press and PR, we are here to help get their name out there. Having now appeared in CWB it is important to continue this presence and have as many people as possible aware of the up and coming childrenswear label.

'I am sad to be leaving Fashion Capital but I have had a great time and met loads of lovely people. I can't wait to collapse back into student life and travel some more but i'll never forget the people I have met here.'
A big welcome also goes out to Jemima Compton who has now joined the FC team. Jemima is no stranger to FC having contributed to the website many times before. Everyone is very excited about Jemima's input and wonderful creative energy!
'I have worked for Fashion Capital on and off for years and I am so happy to be taking a more full time role and I hope I can bring with me ideas and initiatives to help FashionCapital and young designers everywhere. Retail News
Sales have fallen for the majority of retailers on the high street, with no respite in sight for October.
21 per cent of retailers said that the volume of sales in the first half of September was up on last year and 48 per cent said they were down, according to the CBI's Distributive Trades Survey.
The resulting balance of -27 per cent represents the third consecutive month of falling sales. However, it is better than retailers had feared and is an improvement on the record low recorded for August, when the balance was -46 per cent.
