Paid Apprenticeship postions available at New Look!

There are four Garment Technologist positions available at New Look – this is the final call for the assessment day!

On 29th June New Look will be holding an assessment day for candidates at the Fashion Studio for the first stage of their recruitment.

Please forward a copy of your CV including your date of birth and list your GCSE qualifications by subject and grade achieved. If you meet the criteria you will then be invited to attend the Fashion Studio with your relevant documentation before 29th June in order to attend the assessment day.

The Position:

A Fantastic career opportunity to join the Apparel Apprentice Scheme and become an Assistant Garment Technologist at New Look. As part of the team, you will engage in a broad range of activities that keeps New Look as the leading edge of Fashion and style. You will be supporting the garment development process, including wearer trials, engaging in fit sessions and monitoring the entire garment process.

Qualifications Required:

Minimum 5 GCSE grades A-C including Maths and English

16 – 24 years old

Fashion Enter’s How to Succeed in Fashion Today!

Yesterday Fashion Enter held its all day seminar for new and emerging designers starting up their own businesses. The day was a huge success with 12 attendees all soaking up the knowledge and advice from the Fashion Enter team and leading industry experts! It was also a fantastic networking opportunity for the designers to liaise with each other and make key contacts.

Speakers included Fashion Enter’s new Sales Manager Fiona Forrest who was able to introduce herself and talk about her aims for opening new accounts with further buyers and retailers, Manufacturing specialist Nigel Rust who gave an insight into production for today’s designer, Solicitor Nick Gould who gave a candid and inspiring talk about contracts and the legal side of setting up a business and Marlena Woodford a leading trends specilist and previous WGSN!

The Business of Fashion – courses and workshops

Fashion Enter is running another series of their popular business workshops for fashion designers in 2012.

These courses have already helped launch a number of designer businesses as well as helping existing businesses improve.

The next series of six workshops starts in September 2012. They are being run at Fashion Enter’s new Fashion Studio at the University of East London (UEL), Docklands Campus.

Each Workshop starts at 9.30 a.m. and lasts about 5 hours (including breaks for lunch and tea/coffee).

You can attend the whole series or just the ones you need

The workshops are delivered by our Specialist Advisor, Nigel Rust (see profile on Fashion Capital website: Industry/Specialist Advisors).

Dates: Thursdays – September 13th, 20th, 27th, October 4th, 11th, 18th 2012

The Mayor of Bromley presents prize to Future of Fashion winners

On Monday the six winners of the Future of Fashion competition were each presented with their £100 prize by the Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Michael Turner. The competition played an integral part in the fashion installation organised for Her Majesty and Prince Philip’s visit to the borough in May as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Once again congratulations to the winner!
