Newsletter 19th September 2007

Hello All,

We are currently in the midst of a fashion fest right now what with the Fashion Capital team reporting live and direct from London Fashion Week and the Fashion-Enter girls checking out the very latest trends at Premiere Vision in Paris. Expect lots of fashion fuelled reports heading your way soon.

This season’s London Fashion Week has been non-stop both on and off schedule. There’s a fantastic piece in The Telegraph today about the people that make London Fashion Week happen, TopShop’s Buying Director, Caren Downie, being one of them. We’ll be catching up with Caren and her views on this season’s event later this week – check back for that one.

Fashion-Enter on the British Satellite News

One video really worth checking out is the Enter-Boutique Barking Fashion Show (held on the 7th September) filmed by the British Satellite News www.bsn.org.uk. Along with snippets from the show you can find interviews with our Director – Jenny Holloway, Designer – Catharina Eden and the Minister for Culture, Margaret Hodge.

This is what Margaret had to say about developing small creative businesses:

“We want to grow small businesses and the concept of social enterprise where you have a different set of values and you put back your profits into growing the business to provide other jobs for other people, is a new model of running things which I find particularly attractive. I’m really interested in talking to British designers. We are tops in design. And what we’ve got to do is make sure that that translates into jobs right down that value chain so as well as designing we make the clothes that you see here and some are made here and some are made elsewhere but we want to keep Britain – London is really the centre of a lot of creative talent and we want to keep that here.”

Along with our Fashion Week reports we’ve had a huge response to Laura Louise Frampton’s homepage article. ‘The Customer is Always Right Sadly Not Anymore!’ Looks like bad customer service is all too common out there. If you have an opinion please add your views to the end of the article.
