Fashion & Textile 2013 Riga
FashionCapital will head off to Riga in Latvia tomorrow to take part in the one of the most important events in the fashion and textile industry in the Baltics.
As well as representing a cross selection of UK designers at the exhibition FashionCapital is also a guest speaker at the International Conference ‘Fashion and Design: Trends and Perspectives’ discussing Successful Brand Management in the UK.
We have also been asked to be a judge for the young designer competition Habitus Baltija
The aim of the competition is to discover new talents and to support young fashion designers by expanding their experience, promoting ideas and encouraging the exchange of information among the fashion designers and professionals of the industry. We are delighted to have been asked to judge the competition and will be offering the winner a free membership with us.

Bromley Fashion Week – Stalls available!
From 20th – 26th May Bromley Town Centre is hosting its first ever Bromley Fashion Week with a series of fashion based activities throughout the week. To compliment these events a fashion market will take place on Sunday 26th May from 11am – 5pm and we are able to offer our designers a stall to sell their designs!
Fashion Enter will also be hosting a How to design your own T shirt workshop on 20th May for budding designers, as well a Walk the Walk workshop for all potential Models on 25th May. Other events include a Ladies night, Prom hair show and fashion shows featuring both high street designs and new and emerging designers!

River Island Fashion Apprenticeship
Following the announcement that high street retailer River Island will be hiring five fashion production apprentices to be based in their head office, working across design, production and quality control we have been inundated with applications! This is a fantastic opportunity and one not to be missed!
We can now confirm an initial screening day will take place on 1st May to select 15 candidates who will be interviewed by River Island in an assessment day on week commencing 13th May

Less-abled is not a Disability in the World of Fashion!
Fashion Enter has embarked on an ambitious programme, whereby it is retraining six disabled staff at its factory in North London with the support of Remploy and a £15,000 donation from John Lewis.
Christine Kasoulis, director, brand development at John Lewis commented:
“We are proud of our longstanding relationship with Fashion Enter; a UK-based manufacturer that supplies to our business. We are delighted to show further support to Fashion Enter with a cash donation to help support the launch of this social enterprise scheme. I wish all the new recruits the best of luck with their ongoing training and roles.”

Introductory Fashion and Retail Workshop last place left!
Spring is here! New Career!
On Saturday 20th April a FREE introductory workshop from 10.00am – 12.00pm will take place at The Fashion Studio with Business and Careers consultant Paula Arkell.
New for spring is a series of workshops which are aimed at: Graduates (Entry Level), First Job Movers (Intermediate) and Management (Advanced) and anyone who has a passion for fashion and retail and takes their career development seriously.
The World of Fashion and Retail is constantly changing and a good career development plan will help you stand out to potential employers by developing you’re: CV, Profile, Portfolio and targeting yourself to get that next interview and ultimately that job!
The Workshops will cover
– The Fashion Industry – what employers are looking for
– How to work with recruitment agencies
– Overview of the sectors in and jobs in Fashion & Retail: Buying, Visual Merchandising & Design

Fashion Studio Parking Permit
Please note all visitors to the studio arriving by car are required to show a parking pass that is valid for the duration of their stay.
These can be requested through The Fashion Studio via email containting your car registration no, car type and the time and date of your appointment, Fashion Enter is not responsible for any ill effect due to a valid parking pass not being displayed in your car or the use of an outdated/invalid parking pass. The parking on the UEL campus is organised by an outside company so neither UEL or Fashion enter have any control over who gets tickets and who doesn’t
You need to provide us with at least 24 hours notice if you require a parking pass. this pass will be at the main gate for you to collect. If you can not give us 24 hours notice then you need to collect the parking pass from the main reception
