How has your week been so far? Eco issues are still very much at the fore in fashion at the moment with another green title due to hit our shelves ‘Eco Chic’ by Mathilda Lee next month and Tesco’s announcing their new range ‘Greener Living’ you may well ask if fashion & retail are finally getting a conscience?
While some argue that all this ‘green’ talk is nothing but the latest marketing ploy one sure-fire way of reducing your carbon footprint is by using production units based at home. This is where FashionExpo in association with Profile comes in; the event brings together UK-based manufacturers and designers to encourage local effective production, therefore reducing unnecessary carbon footprints that currently plague the fashion industry.

Fashion Gardening in Milan A telling spectrum of approaches could be seen at the recent Milan Fashion Week. Spring/Summer 2008 saw the designers’ collective eye hone in on florals. Big flowers, little abstract ones, brash and prosaic concoctions and those of the more heart-felt variety graced the catwalks for what proved to be a see-sawing affair of inspired print and colour-play on the one hand and of unconvincing forays into picture-perfect orchid territory on the other.
