FashionCapital reaches page one on Google!

 

FashionCapital has climbed the ranks of the Google pages and today we are delighted to announce that we have reached page one for the word 'fashion', joining the likes of Vogue.com and The Guardian online site! This is fantastic news and really goes to show that the FashionCapital team are bringing you the UK's leading portal for the industry.

Interview with ITN

On Monday the 15th February, Jenny Holloway, Hayleigh Amos and Vanessa Isaia were filmed by ITN's Senior Broadcast Journalist – Megan Gerrie and Producer Sally Meeson from ITN's Cool Edition which is in essence is a fashion/trend programme that goes out to an audience of 11 million in China and Shanghai.

 

The footage will be aired this week and we will be receiving a copy very soon – so keep your eyes peeled.

Dansk Daily – Copenhagen Fashion Week

 

Last week the FC team headed to Copenhagen to cover Copenhagen Fashion Week. All the coverage of the top shows and daily reports can be found on the site. Editor Jenni Sutton and Creative Jemima Daisy joined the fashionistas and were spotted in the Copenhagen Fashion Week official paper Dansk Daily.

The pop up shop that we are running at Bicester Village with Value Retail and featuring the London Fashion Week designers is set to launch 31st March 2010!

CAD/CAM Course at The Workshop

Do you want to design for asos.com?

The International Fashion Fusion competition has opened its doors to the whole of the UK and now anyone can enter. You just need to be 15 years or older and be able to translate your design ideas into sketches. The winner will not only have their design sold on asos.com but will also receive a 6 month placement at the leading etailer and to  work along side Madras designer Jessica Ogden. This really is the chance of a life time and should not be missed by any budding fashion designers.

Many of you have already expressed a strong interest in this years Clothes Show London at Earls Court and stands are starting to fill up. The event takes place from 25th – 27th June and after last years success the FashionCapital boutique is set to become a hotspot for fashionistas. It's been another miraculous week for three of our highest calibre candidates having secured jobs in the fashion industry as a result of the job specific training and industry contacts via the Fashion Enter workshop.

As word spreads further through out the borough this highly desirable opportunity is being taken up by more and more fashion thirsty job seekers.

Croydon College seminar

 

Further to a seminar last Friday the talented first year BA students at Croydon College have embarked on an exciting marketing project. The brief is to design African themed garments/outfits complete with supporting branding and PR material. This is to ensure that each students garment concept is fully researched, understood and at an adequate level to progress directly into the competitive fashion industry after completing education.

Double Dip?

 

1.64m now claiming benefit is an all time high for Labour since April 1997. 23,500 more people claimed benefit in January. To make matters worse long term unemployment increased by 37,000 to 663, 000. Is this double dip FashionCapital predicted the veg of January?

Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush beat the general high street gloomy January by reporting an 11% increase in Sales. This compares to West End stores that saw a 6.1% increase in like for like sales. Total sales in Westfield were £700m defying sceptics. Westfield now plans to open a second site in Stratford before the Olympic Games in 2010.

Burberry struggles with the Spanish market but the USA and UK market is on the up resulting in a loss of 300 jobs throughout the company. It will close the division that designs and makes the luxury goods exclusively for the Spanish market in Barcelona
