Jenny Holloway commented on the year,

"I think I have aged in 2008! It's been a whirlwind of a year for us all but we have achieved some amazing highs and learnt some valuable lessons too. I am particularly proud of the talented staff that we have who actually motivate me no end. I don't think any of our members realise how hard any of them work and how genuine they are for our members to succeed.

We have had amazing support from some of the highest people in our industry such as Caren Downie, Nick Samuel, Adam Creasey, Stephen Mongan, Eimear Hawker, Hilary Alexander  to name a few.

We have also had equally important support from City Fringe Partnership, the LDA, Nolcha, Barking and Dagenham Regeneration, Barking LEGI, Adult College of Barking and Dagenham and individuals such as Simon Green from Barking Vicarage Fields and David Parham from Croydon's Centrale Shopping Centre.

Fashion Enter goes to the South West

Vanessa Camelia

In November this year Development Manager Vanessa Camelia, with the support of the Fashion Enter team took the step to leave the head office in Hayes and head West to open up a head office based in Bournemouth.  Vanessa is now heading up developments to open a unique lifestyle boutique with a workshop.

Vanessa said…

"I am so excited about the future; we have had immense support from government bodies such as Bournemouth Council and we are grateful to the Deputy Mayor of Bournemouth (Councilor Anne Filer) for her continued support.  I would also like to thank Matthew Desmier (Enterprise Manager) at the Enterprise Pavilion where I am based for his guidance and support.  We are set for big developments down here and are in talks with fashion chain New Look to open up doors for the South West designers".

The Clothes Show Live

The 20th anniversary of the Clothes Show Live was a fantastic success, and sales hit the roof, the quotes below speak for themselves…

Clothes Show

"We have just recovered from the FashionCapital's boutique at Clothes Show Live in NEC. Trolllied Dolly's stand was mobbed every day particularly the last day when we had virtually run out of stock! The whole event worked for us completely and it was great to work along side Fashion Capital too with Emily and Jemima. Not only did we sell out of stock but this event really helped to get our name out to consumers too – we are definitely going to do the London based show in May again. Thanks to all concerned who made this event a real success for Trollied Dolly."

Louise and Nicole, Trollied Dolly

Hilary Alexander"The Clothes show is a brilliant experience for everyone, this years is one of the best Clothes Shows ever and the audiences have been huge! I think you guys (https://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/) promoting young talent is brilliant"

Hilary Alexander

"This is the third time I have taken a stand at the Clothes Show Live. The show, as usual was very busy but even though we are all experiencing a worldwide credit crunch the buyers came out in droves looking for good designer clothing at affordable prices. Thank you very much to Fashion Capital particularly Jenny Holloway, Emily Tullett and Jemima Compton as it was a successful venture for Corset Art as usual."

Self worth and esteem at Christmas

It's that time when the Christmas hampers are full, the chocs are out and the turkey is well and truly stuffed…but don't you be! Try restraint and take time for yourself this festive season. Read more of Sophia's White's article and here's a special quote from Sophia herself!

"Happy Christmas to all at FashionCapital – I know the site has literally 100,000s of unique users so here is a special message for each of you. Be happy over the Christmas period and remember how fortunate we all are. 2009 is around the corner and I sincerely wish you all good fortune in your careers and lives next year. I really enjoy writing the modelling articles for you all and thank you for some amazing feedback that I have received. To 2009!"

Our fabulous international USA correspondent is raring to go for the New Year with many an exciting overseas opportunity available to our members. With the resounding success of Profile NY taking the big apple by storm this September, the American base cannot wait to see more of our exciting designers take the leap and follow Topshop in the British invasion to capture the hearts and style of our fellow fashionista's in yet another Fashion Capital. Ongoing work is continuing with Nolcha for Sept 09 so watch this space and look our for our next "Are you Ready for Export" seminar to help you get kick started.

Big Apple"Hi guys, I have been in the fashion industry for years and it's great to be the main USA correspondence on FashionCapital. We have some amazing opportunities planned for 2009 for the FashionCapital designers and I am already in discussions with a variety of retailers and agents to start getting you talented designers recognition and some orders in the big apple. New York may be in a retail doom and gloom but hey they are hungry for newness and something unique….just what I know FashionCapital designers can offer. So all you out there have a good Christmas and lets get going with sales in 2009!

Workshop update

The Workshop

We are delighted to confirm that we are now working with the esteemed fashion icon label Jaeger at the Workshop. We have now submitted our first two samples and I have to say that are pretty darn impressive! Highly detailed and very complicated (just what you expect form a premium brand) but the amazing team at the Workshop pulled out all the stops and made samples fit for a Queen!

The Workshop has been flat out since its launch on 30th October and the girls, Katarzyna, Ebyta, Mun Yee, Bobo under the guidance of the Manager Feride, will be off on a well earned rest from Friday 19th December until Monday 5th January 2009.

Another happy customer of the unit is Nicholina from B&G Ltd, currently a practising barrister Nicholina is embarking on a life long dream of opening her own children swear label.

"The best thing I have ever done is write a cheque for my membership for FashionCapital and Fashion Enter ltd. I think I speak to the team at least 3 times a day some days and without fail they are there to support me every step of the way from forming the company correctly, to paperwork, to patterns and fabric sourcing to range plan – the whole business side of planning – EVERYTHING. I know that my business proposal is spot on for the economy today I have a unique proposition that will take the high street by storm; but I am doing it professionally and my way. There is no point in launching until every part of the business is ready and in 2009 B&G Ltd will be ready with force and gusto! Thank you to everyone who has helped me and for all the emails from Jenny that keeps me going in the early hours of the morning! Wishing you all a healthy and happy festive period."
