FashionCapital at Global Entrepreneurship Week
Global Entrepreneurship Week began life as Enterprise Week in the UK back in 2004. In 2008, Enterprise UK and the Kauffman Foundation (the world’s largest entrepreneurship foundation based in the US) founded the very first Global Entrepreneurship Week.
To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week London Borough of Hackney – Partnerships and Investments Team, supported by the Ways into Work and Town Centres programmes organised ‘Hackney Entrepreneurship Week’. The aim is to celebrate the week by providing advice, support and showcasing opportunities to Hackney’s existing and aspiring entrepreneurs. The event will present self employment / business as a means of addressing unemployment and career pathfinding, also provide an opportunity for ‘budding entrepreneurs’ to meet business support organisations who will help them realise their potential.
Last night around 20 aspiring fashion designers attended an interactive seminar presented by Jenny Holloway – Director Fashion Enter. The level of enthusiasm was high and feedback from delegates was extremely positive. It was the second of a programme of events for Hackney Entrepreneurship Week, which will be followed by seminars from the Golden Company and Own It who deliver support for young entrepreneurs and advice on intellectual property respectively.
Croydon TV
Today, the Factory had the pleasure of working with Croydon TV to film director; Jenny Holloway and production manager; Kosa Ralevic in response to the recent dispatches documentary unearthing the shocking truth behind the British manufacturing industry reminiscent of third world sweat shops seen in Leicester. Jenny and Kosa showed the television crew how manufacturing in the UK should be done as seen in the Factory and the Workshop. Croydon TV was also excited to find out more about the FCBoutique.co.uk and spoke to Emily Tullett about the upcoming Christmas pieces soon to launch.
Industry Outlook
Burberry has seen an astronomical increase of 18% in profit since the launch of their creative online marketing campaign. As the brand reaches nearly 3 million face book fans, the high end fashion label continues to satisfy the changing consumer shopping habits thanks to the “ongoing investment in our digital, IT and retail infrastructure, especially in China, and a disciplined approach to driving growth underpin our confidence in delivering long-term sustainable returns,” said Burberry’s chief executive, Angela Ahrendts.
