South Africa – Day 1

After almost three years of behind the scenes planning and weeks of regular updates on the site, FashionCapital is delighted to be reporting live from South Africa!


The four day trip organised by Masana Chikeka of the Department of Arts and Culture commenced this morning after a 12 hour flight from Heathrow! Fashion Enter and FashionCapital have been joined by Sarah Wilkinson, Head of Design at leading etailer asos.com for this intensive buying trip with the aim of building unique relationships and working collaboratively together to support new and emerging fashion designers.

 

Masana Chikeka the Deputy Director as well as Vusi Ngobeni, Assistant Director and Lindi Ndebele, Director of Multimedia at the DAC.

London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week will commence this Thursday continuing the celebration of showcasing the most prestigious British designer talent over the past 25 years. Asos.com Product Meeting

The next Womenswear SS10 ASOS product meeting will take place on 24th September 2009.

Designers have already been pre-selected and contacted to show their collections, but if you are a new brand and feel itss perfect for ASOS then please email your images along with your price points to hayleigh@fashion-enter.com for consideration.

Please can we remind designers that you will need to contact the showroom to make an appointment to drop of your collection.

The Clothes Show Live is soon dawning with applications coming in thick and fast. With 16 stands originally available and just a quarter left, be sure to get your applications quick time to ensure you secure your stand at the largest fashion and beauty event in the whole world. With a flood of over 185,000 consumers flocking to grab a piece of the finest up and coming designers collections to add to their wardrobe and on the look out for Christmas prezzies for loved ones, this really is the event of the year not to be missed. Fashion Enter attended a workshop and networking event to enlighten Croydon businesses about the pros and cons of trading in the Spanish and Portuguese markets courtesy of UKTI, HSBC and Croydon Enterprise. Embroidery, Made to Measure & Alterations Service

Enter Boutique in Croydon has now reintroduced an alterations and made to measure service in store. We are also offering embroidery services whereby any image/logo can be transferred onto any desired fabric. Having only launched this new service this week, we have already taken many orders from both designers and consumers alike. Dynamic Models & Fashion Enter at Movida

An exhilarating catwalk show is set to take place on Thursday 24th September at the luxurious and exquisite members'/VIP invite only club venue; Movida, built amidst the vaults of the London Palladium Theatre. This elite venue will be home to an exclusive showcasing event featuring Fashion Enter designers and Dynamic models using 4 prominent themes of sultry office wear, followed by party/club wear and last but not least lingerie teamed with stunning corsetry.

Congratulations to all participants who have completed the Vetigraph Cad/Cam course over the last few months. This week is the final week and certificates will be at the Workshop from 21st September for collection. If you would like to practice your newfound skills at the Workshop, if you are a member you can use the software for £15 per hour and for non members you can use Vetigraph software for £20. Please contact Maxine@fashion-enter.com or 0020 8800 9979 to book time on the computers at the Workshop.

If you are a woman employed in the Fashion and Textiles sector and live and work in England  this is your unique opportunity for free training at The Workshop!

Thanks to The Women & Work Programme, a fantastic initiative run by Skillfast-UK, we are delighted to now be in a position to help women all over the UK who work with in the Fashion and Textiles sector.

The aim is to raise recruitment levels in sectors where women are under-represented and to give women new skills, so they can progress in their career and achieve more for themselves and their employers.

We are pleased to be in the position of receiving a high number of expression of interests, therefore this is on a first come first served basis.
