Eco Bags Design Competition
Congratulations to all participants who entered the Eco Bags competition, the standard of work exceeded all expectations proving the shortlisting judging session extremely difficult. With a helping hand from retail giant Topshop’s Eimear Hawker and Stephen Mongan, from the Technical Department, a selection of designs had to be chosen to feature at the Croydon Eco Expo 2008 event. The creators of the shortlisted designs have all been invited to the private launch of Eco Expo on Friday 17th October at the Hilton Hotel on Waddon Way to reveal the winners from each age category.

SOS continues….
The Save Our Shop campaign continued at Enter Boutique on Saturday 11th October featuring a live catwalk in store offering the opportunity of instant model stardom to Croydon shoppers.
Everyone was welcome to strut their stuff in a host of traffic stopping Enter Boutique stunners and strike their fave fashion poses in the shop window. While the catwalk was running busy with girls trying on exclusive Enter Boutique garments and dancing around the boutqiue in true A-Lister style, our staff, with cameras in hand, hoarded the girls acting the part of paparazzi to complete the excitement of our catwalk experience.
More next week!
The Face of Croydon models for MAC
Kym Whittle, winner of The Face of Croydon, commenced her modelling career on the catwalks of New York City at NY Profile – not bad at all! Now back in the UK the good work continues with a photo shoot with top cosmetics line MAC.
The theme was 60's glamorous makeup. Kym was truly the glam model displaying bright coloured eye shadow, long lashes, and nude lipstick. Emphasis throughout on the eyes portraying 60's chic.
Remember you saw the rising model here first!
Understanding the Fashion Industry heads to the South West
FashionCapital's highly successful and effective seminar on Understanding the Fashion Industry will take place at the Enterprise Pavilion at Bournemouth this month. The seminars are a new styled workshop integrating business learning and enterprise and already proven vastly popular amongst local schools and colleges.
Matt Desmier Enterprise Manager commented:
‘Turning ideas into Creative Enterprises – that's just what we achieve at the Enterprise Pavilion in Bournemouth. We pride ourselves on creating new opportunities for our talented designers and we are pleased to now confirm a new industry based initiative with Fashion Enter and https://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/. Over the next 6 weeks we will be working on a commercial collection that will then be sold in London via the Croydon and Barking boutiques of Fashion Enter. The project is excellent as it combines real industry working practices into the learning environment.'
Retail Outlook
Is it a sign of things to come when Marks and Spencer expands into the energy market? City forecasts expect M&S profits to drop from £1bn last year to little more that £500 next year.
Question of the week:
