Dear all,

Final call for entries – EBD Competition with FC and BrandAlley

Following on from recent announcements of the ultimate ‘EBD’ competition please note the Senior Management team from BrandAlley will be at The Workshop this Friday (15th July) to review entries and samples before the final judging day.

This is a fantastic opportunity which could secure you orders in an exclusive sale on BrandAlley in September and some major exposure in National publications!

If you have any designs that fit this brief email across to myself and lynsay@fashion-enter.com with the Product Spec Sheet completed by end of play Thursday (14th July). If you can also get a sample to The Workshop by Friday this would be great but not essential at this stage.

Profile – 10th November 2011 – One Marylebone

The Profile fashion event is returning this year to celebrate its 10 year anniversary! Since its conception in 2001 Profile has seen a hotbed of designer talent take the industry by storm and this year it could be you!

Profile is set to take place on 10th November in the Soane Hall of One Marylebone where it will showcase the industry’s rising stars across ladies, men’s and accessories to an influential audience of press and buyers. Widely considered as the industry bridge between the new faces of Graduate Fashion Week and the names of London Fashion Week, it is an exciting opportunity to see the ones to watch hit the catwalk.

If you are an up and coming designer this opportunity is not to be missed. Download the expression of interest form here and please email to jenni@fashion-enter.com where you will then be notified of the screening day where you will need to present samples to a panel of judges.

BD@DC – Bath update

Greetings from gorgeous Bath, this week we have been utilising Bath as an elegant backdrop with a shoot for Joshua Riches winning capsule collection and an editorial shoot using a mix of designers from the boutique. It was a pleasure to work with the photographer April Samantha Barrie based in Bath and local model agency Shoot DHS Models. The results are already being edited and from what I have seen so far – look fantastic. Can’t wait to share these with you next week. We are also waiting to hear about our appeal date with the council please cross all your fingers and toes that the council can help and support our boutique and grant us rate relief. Thanks to all those that have signed and supported our petition:

Retail news

June’s retail sales sales fell only slightly, showing signs of recovery in time for the Christmas season. Retail like-for-like sales fell 0.6% year-on-year during June but increased 1.5% in total, helped by the early launch of Sales.

All categories with the exception of women’s clothing and footwear recorded some improvement the BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor showed.

BRC director-general Stephen Robertson said: “Given June’s spate of shop closure announcements and weak company results, these figures are not as bad as they could have been but it shows just how tough times are when total sales growth of 1.5 per cent is regarded as not that bad.

Diary of The Oonagh Boman Make-up Excellence Awards

Christopher O’Reilly, Head of fcMenswear and Director of House of Hannigan was commissioned in early June to create an American Independence Day dress inspired by the Union Jack dress from his 2010/11 collection. The brief was for something amazing for press photos and the grand finale of the catwalk show of the awards. The awards are for former students of The Oonagh Boman School of Make-up who have been out in the industry for the past four years or more. Well done to Chris whose dress got a half of a page in The Mirror on Saturday.
