We were extremely impressed with the level of applicants for the first of the BrandAlley bespoke collection projects. Yesterday we met with BrandAlley UK and BrandAlley France and selected the final designs. We have informed all applicants that were successful. If you have not been contacted you were not successful and we thank you for your effort and invite you to enter the next competition. Please see below.
The next project from the BrandAlley Bespoke collection will be ‘The Trench’
Now that the finalists have been chosen for the Perfect Blouse, we are now launching the ‘The trench’. A brief will be up on our website later this week so please check it out by following the link below.

The Designer Lounge
The Designer lounge is a weekly event for press, buyers and stylists to review the finest, undiscovered designer collections. Each Wednesday from 5pm the boutique and showroom space situated in Portman Village will host up to 4 of the latest up and coming designers set to take the industry by storm.
Each designer will showcase their collection in the professional and convenient environment which will soon put The Designer Lounge on the map for fresh, up and coming designer talent.

The Art of Fashion at the British Designers@FashionCapital – W1
The Art of Fashion will see the British Designers@FashionCapital boutique transformed into an art gallery showcasing beautifully presented pieces of art inspired by the world of fashion. Launching on 15th February the event will run throughout London Fashion Week inviting guests to view the unique collection. Illustrators, photographers and designers have been approached to take part. In addition to this we will also have some original illustrations, beautifully framed and displayed, from the LFW designers of lines seen on the catwalks within the last year.

Calling all ladieswear Designers!
Renowned freelance stylist, Siouxsie with whom Fashion Capital has worked with over the years on Profile, would like to showcase some of the most unusual and high end jewellery/accessories designers from the UK and would like ladieswear labels to compliment the accessories.
Designers chosen will feature in the Pandora Catwalk Cafe, which is held at the Spring Fair show in Birmingham which commands a huge audience from all over the country and internationally, which includes press and buyers. So it is a great opportunity for any young designer.
Over the past few seasons, Siouxsie and her team have built up some great relationships with fashion brands, which carry pieces that are complimentary to the J/A brands and that will fit with the trends for the show. They also offer full credits in the programme.
If you are thinking of presenting to buyers in the showroom this would be the ideal time to bring your collections in. Siouxsie will also be looking at collections with future projects in mind. Pleaseemail images lynsay@fashion-enter.com

Following the first highly successful run of ‘Be Business Ready’ workshops, Fashion Enter are adding two more workshops covering Sales & Marketing and How to Sell and Negotiate.
Aimed at fashion designers who are either just starting out or have been running for a while and want to improve their business, these workshops are designed to be practical – giving you simple tools to help you sell and market your designs as well as an understanding of the principles behind them.

Workshop 2 at Barking
Since October 2007 the Workshop based at Haringey N4 has continued to develop and is now a centre of excellence in sampling, pattern making and small run production.
Due to the overwhelming success of the Workshop Fashion Enter and fashioncapital.co.uk are now delighted to confirm that a new sampling unit has opening at Barking. There is already a dedicated team comprising of a pattern maker and machinists who are of excellent standards. The team has a combined industry working experience that spans 35 years. The team is managed by Syreeta McQueen and Syreeta is responsible for coordinating new designers work and new business start ups requirements.

The Collection
The Collection is returning to Amika for a winter spectacular. Postponed due to weather, the next show promises to be incredible! Following the theme of winter warming and preparing for a steamy Valentines day the show will feature designers such as Cocoabella, Corset Art and Paolita as well as stunning evening wear and performances.
The show is still open to designers so if you are a designer and would like to showcase in The Collection please email jemima@fashioncapital.co.uk with images of your collection for consideration.

Apprenticeships
The Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeship programme is nearly ready to start on February 15th with the first cohort of 15 apprentices. Today, potential candidates were interviewed in hope of securing a place on the course. There was a fantastic selection of potential eager apprentices to select from making the decision extremely hard to whittle down to the final 15. Congratulations to the candidates who have made it through this far and we will be informing everyone of the outcome by Friday or early next week.
