Hanging it all together for the fashion industry

NEWSLETTER

That was one hairy ride! We eventually transferred the source codes and data across last week but, as expected, nothing ever goes smoothly. The operation took five days due to the copious amount of data that we have on files. By Friday I was prepared to leave the country…with the one nerve cell that I had left!

Many thanks to Yoel, in particular, who is to become our in-house web wizard and also to Follow Me Technologies for the transfer of the information. We have worked with FMT for the last three years and we would all just like to say an enormous Thank You for all the hard work.

Now that we have the site in house we can start revamping the look and feel of FashionCapital and big plans are being drawn up to make this site a world beater. The site is only as good as the quality of work uploaded and our first new journalist is Christa Catharina Muller who interviewed Julia Clancey. Christa will now be a regular journalist on our site providing weekly news and reviews!

Already we have started to remove the old data off the home page and as sad as it was to remove the LFF logos they have to go! Five years is a long time in anyone’s life to work on a project but onwards and upwards.

Ellie Rivers is now taking the lead on the site and she is your main point of contact…she has a direct link on the home page and if you have an event to publish, a new press release to send out or a burning article that you wish to write then send it in to ellie@fashioncapital.co.uk and it will be uploaded for you. Remember we do not overtly publicise companies on the home page so any article that makes it to the home page has to have a unique angle and informative.

Today we commenced a two day seminar  “So, you want to be a fashion designer?” with Park Langley Boys School.  We did a similar project last year and it was highly successful. I didn’t think we would be able to surpass the group from last year but I was well and truly wrong! The 24 strong team are forging ahead with guest speakers Jenni Sutton (illustrator), Beth Lunn (Huge Promotions), Ruthi Orlin (Jewellery Designer), Mel Everrit (Pattern Maker) and Hayleigh Amos on print and design. Some of the mood boards are unbelievable…

How do you fancy designing a stunning outfit for the next potential winner of Miss England? We are working collaboratively with Divinity Model Management and supporting the new look Miss England event which now has a fashionable edge. There will be more on this later but for now please read though the Miss England article for further details.

The FashionCapital site will be relaunced and revamped. It’s going to take time but there is a three phase plan in place whereby the site will initially have a general make over that will lead to the state of the art rehaul to include multi media, RRS, fashion blogs and much much more.

Thanks for your patience. It not been an easy couple of weeks but we are definitely on the way up.

Until next Wednesday.

Jenny Holloway
