Free CAD/CAM pattern making course continues…The free CAD/CAM pattern making course is now into its second week and what a fantastic response we have been receiving from the participants.

There is still chance to get on the course. Seats are limited, and 20 of the placements have been reserved for businesses located in the London Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Tower Hamlets, and Hackney. If you would like further info please contact jenni@fashion-enter.com

FashionCapital takes part in Press trip to France

On Sunday 15th March FashionCapital will go to France on a press trip for the British Media. The visit is to give journalists the chance to go to the workshops of designers and see the work they undertake in embroidery, tailoring, millinery and model making for clients that include Chanel, Kenzo, Lacroiz, Roland Mouret and Celine. This is a fantastic opportunity and has been made possible by APHO, the association for the promotion of the clothing trade in Western France in partnership with the French Trade Commission in the UK. FC will be reporting live from France next week so expect to gain a unique insight into the French fashion industry.

Fashion Enter is soon to set up Creative Designs which is a unique FashionCapital design marketing agency to create a new branding concept for you and your business. Queen’s Lock InIn preparation for the Queen’s Lock in, taking place at the Enter Boutique in Croydon tomorrow, FashionCapital visited London’s best Transgendered nightclub The WayOut Club on Saturday to spread the word. Having met with owner Vicky Lee it was clear there is certainly a niche market out there and something that Fashion Enter could explore further. With over 1000 designers and our own factory we are in good position to cater for the transgendered scene and now we are getting acquainted with the clientele watch this space for future events!

If you are transgendered or simply curious come down to the Entre Boutique tomorrow for an evening of frivolous fun, drinks, music and more importantly divine clothes and accessories!

Farah Damji is the lady behind Moksa Surya. You may recognise the name from the fantastic articles on Ethical Fashion Farah provided for FC over London Fashion Week.

Moksa Surya  (Moksa- Freedom, Surya Sun God,) is the first ready to wear capsule collection derived from MOKSA, Handmade in London, the custom and bespoke clothing line which was created by Farah Damji in February 2007.  

This Spring Summer 2009 collection comprises 24 pieces of wearable ethical fashion, which embody the label’s strict adherence to Fair Trade and organically produced materials including organic denim, Peace silk, Tussah silk, bamboo and cotton. Moksa applied to become a Registered member of IFAT , the Global Network of Fair Trade organisations.

Retail News

CBI’s second monthly Access to Finance Survey reports lack of credit availability has heavily affected almost 60% of firms have seen the deterioration of new or renewed finance lines over the last three months. 41% of firms have been unaffected experiencing no change and not one business had seen any improvement. 40% of firms have laid off staff over the past three months as a result of the conditions whilst existing staff are working fewer hours and cut backs on training have also occurred. John Lewis who also own Waitrose sales are down; annual profits fell by 26% and employ 76,000. Manufacturing has reduced at the most dramatic rate in Jan 09 in 30 years, it fell by 12.3% from last year. Saving rate is at a record low at .17% and pay freezes in retail with Toyota announcing a 10% cut in production and reducing all pay by 10%. 1 job is being lost every 25 seconds.
