Hello all

TRENDS, TRENDS, TRENDS…….. This is exactly what FashionCapital is all about.

It has just been confirmed that we will be attending the Li Edelkoort / Trend Union UK trend Presentation on 5th June 2008 in the Jarvis suite at RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects)

There will be two presentations; Lifestyle 2010 and the Autumn/Winter 2009-10 Fashion & Colour trend presentations.

Li Edelkoort is one of the world's most renowned trend forecasters; her work has pioneered trend forecasting as a profession.

Trend Union is a world leader in trend prediction and we are very much looking forward to the presentation. Watch this space for Vanessa's insightful trend boards.

Vanessa has recently returned from the New York trade mission with some of our Fashion Enter designers. There she was able to gather exclusive information and images on trends in New York and has created three wonderful trend boards for Spring/Summer 2008. For the full article click here

South Africa

Travelling even further afield is Jenny Holloway, who will be returning to South Africa on the 8th May. The trip promises to follow up on the exciting leads made on the last visit. South African retailer Foschini has expressed great interest in 10 of our designers and Jenny will have a direct meeting with them to confirm orders. There are also plans for an Enter boutique to be opened up in Durban. More on this when Jenny returns.

British Fashion Council (BFC) Colleges Council Open Day

Yesterday Emily Tullett, researcher, went along to the British Fashion Council Colleges Council Open Day in a bid to recruit colleges for our Getting it Right First Time workshops.

Getting it Right First Time is an excellent initiative where by specialists in the industry give workshops and seminars on different aspects of the real world of the fashion industry. This has proven to be extremely popular in the past and Emily had great success yesterday in introducing the programme to even more colleges. Click here for the full article

stephen timmsThe Rt. Hon Stephen Timms meets with FashionCapital

The Rt. Hon Stephen Timms MP, Government minister and MP for neighbouring East Ham will be visiting Enter's flagship boutique in the Vicarage Field Shopping Centre in Barking.

In 2001 Stephen Timms, in his then ministerial capacity, actually launched https://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/ at our first PROFILE fashion event which was, and still is aimed at new and emerging fashion designers who are looking to bridge the gap between Graduate Fashion Week and London Fashion Week. Now that FashionCapital is a world leader, we are holding the event on Friday to show him what an amazing resource this site is and how it has grown beyond all expectations. "I feel like crying and I just don't know what to do!

I've just been to the factory that making my first order for a small boutique in Manchester, I've rung up the factory 2 weeks ago to tell them to change the length of the skirt from 23 inches under band to 21 inches under band.

They didn't listen to me and now the whole order is wrong, as this is my first order I'm actually scared to ring up the boutique and I don't have any money to order any more fabric.

What can I do?"

Response

Don't panic! That's what we're here for. There are lots of issues here. You must contact the buyer because she may not think the skirt length is a big issue.

If it is a problem then offer a cost price reduction; presume not sale or return? Then you have to tackle the factory.

Did you document the call? Please say you did! If not then it really is his word against yours. You should use a docket which is an instruction to cut; one is available on the tools of the trade section.

Call us tomorrow at the Head Office on 020 8462 9620 and let's talk further.

You too could get this invaluable advice for just £9.99 a month. Click here for information on membership

Manufacturer's Online Showroom

The fact that fashion Capital is the UK's leading portal for the industry and is ranked at number 11 in the world for the word ‘fashion' in Google, is fantastic news for any London based manufacturers and CMT Unit's. Fashion Capital is offering an astonishing business opportunity. A unique advertising concept on the Manufacturer's Online Showroom for absolutely FREE!

The Manufacturer's Online Showroom was created to provide designers with a quick and easy to use filter system when searching for the perfect manufacturer to best suit their requirements. In return the manufacturers displayed on the Showroom receive a greater workload, as Andrew from The Sampling Unit in London can confirm, he informed us that he receives more enquiries through FashionCapital.co.uk than via Yellow Pages or Yell.com.

If you require any more information, please contact emily@fashioncapital.co.uk.
