It’s grand to be back after patiently waiting for six months! FashionCapital has continued to remain very active during this period so credit to you, the users out there.
So what has been happening? Well it’s been pretty horrendous all in all! LFF ceased trading on 31st March after five years. We knew it was going to happen as the LDA funding had, to be fair, been more than generous but it was still heart wrenching to close the doors as you can imagine! The LFF still has not closed completely and there are complications. That’s all I am saying on that one!
We had literally hundreds of designers asking us to continue in some guise or other so I decided to take the plunge and open up our own not for profit company www.fashion-enter.com! My husband had a complete dickie fit and thinks I have lost the plot completely but hey you only live once!
I kept liaising about FashionCapital and Profile in particular with the LDA and as of 1st September I was granted the right to continue with both projects. I was estatic, to say, the least but now the real work starts.
Fashion-enter.com will become a sister site to FashionCapital for the more experienced desginers that need sales and exposure. There is a membership fee of £60 plus VAT to join and if you are interested check it out and have a browse. We have a boutique in Croydon entitled Enter, a state of the art directory and loads of other benefits – it’s the biz! Vanessa will continue to work on this site in her new role as Creative Manager.

As for FashionCapital it will be revamped and rehauled and that’s what we are going through strategically now. We want the site to have free access for users and basically attract zillions of hits world wide!
Today we have gone live with over 50 new boutiques that have been waiting to go live. We will be contacting the new designers by Friday with further details regarding the ecommerce boutique. A big welcome to Ellbury, Free Chill, Icon Shoes and Little Blue Dog to name but a few!

Gareth from FMT is organising dedicated email addresses for the site and I am hoping to have this installed by tomorrow…eyeballs crossed. Ellie Rivers is joining us to strengthen the team and ensure content is added and forums cared for. I was hopping mad with the rubbish posted on these forums but could not access the site during the last few months; you have no idea how frustrating that was! All is sorted now.
As for Profile it’s currently being reviewed by a major TV company and the Commissioning Director is reviewing to determine if it will become a fly on the wall documentary for a UK wide competition. It’s an ambitious project so lets see. Nothing ventured nothing gained!
So please be patient! There are lots of changes going to occur and many exciting projects in the pipeline but it’s not going to happen overnight.
Remember to keep in touch with us too and use the forums. Every day the site is monitored now.
Onwards and upwards; exciting times ahead.

What is FashionCapital?
FashionCapital is a portal for the fashion industry. It is a free website that was funded by the London Development AGency for almost five years. The London Fashion Forum (LFF) was the organisation that designed the latest site and also provided content and overall strategy but the very first concept of the site came from a highly talented individual Olga Astaniosis who was working for Business Link for London at the time.
